More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for August 14th
The August 14th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership, a large increase in key demographic rankings, and a small increase in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 703,000 viewers and a 0.23 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gain from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given, and overall key demographic viewership group, which was 19.1% higher than last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s lead-in Big Bang Theory drew 941,000 viewers and a 0.14 rating.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Little League World Series game of Florida vs. South Dakota drew 975,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of New York Yankees vs. Chicago Cubs drew 384,000 viewers on MLB Network, Expedition X drew 920,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, The Challenge drew 426,000 viewers on MTV, Million Dollar List Los Angeles drew 616,000 viewers on BRAVO, and Pawn Stars drew 429,000 viewers on History Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 306,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership skew was 67.4% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 19.6% in overall viewership and down 25.7% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 40.3% compared to the same week last year.

The August 9th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a slight increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 219,000 viewers and a 0.09 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 21st place.
Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the very large gains from their older key demographic viewership group, which was up 71.7% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large declines from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 43.6% compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Summer Olympics Games drew 11,007,000 viewers and 12,021,000 viewers on NBC and 1,303,000 viewers on USA Network, the 2024 Little League World Series Regional game of Hawaii vs. California drew 472,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB simulcast games of Pittsburgh vs. Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets vs. Seattle drew 228,000 viewers on MLB Network, On Patrol Live drew 686,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After First Look drew 504,000 viewers on TLC.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 113,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 64.7% in favor of males. Meltzer reported that AEW’s viewers per home average of 1.16 was one of its lowest ever for an AEW show and meant that almost nobody watched the show in groups.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 45% in overall viewership and down 43.2% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 60.7% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the large declines is due to the lack of Olympics Games competition for last year’s show.

The August 10th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership, a large increase in key demographic rankings, and a small increase in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for Collision airing at its normal time slot following the prior week’s show being preempted to an earlier start time of 5PM EST due to wanting to avoid going head-to-head against WWE SummerSlam 2024’s main show.
AEW drew 370,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 15th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to a combination of Collision airing on its normal time slot, the large gain from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given, and overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 45% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s younger key demographic viewership for the final half hour of the show drew a very low 18,000 viewers and well below the usual for an AEW show in the final two quarter hours.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Summer Olympics Games drew 10,361,000 viewers on NBC and 884,000 viewers on USA Network, the NFL Preseason game of Kansas City Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars drew 1,441,000 viewers on NFL Network, the MLB game of Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays drew 1,073,000 viewers on FOX, UFC Fight Night drew 570,000 viewers on ESPN, and On Patrol Live drew 779,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 145,000 viewers.
