More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for August 7th
The August 7th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 622,000 viewers and a 0.19 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 8th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large increase from their older key demographic viewership group, which was up 51.5% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the stiff sports competition from the 2024 Summer Olympics Games that night and the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 44.3% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that this week’s show was notable for two things that have never happened before in Dynamite series history. The first reportedly being AEW’s younger key demographic viewership of 54,000 being the lowest ever for a regular timeslot shot in series history. The second reportedly being Big Bang Theory topped AEW in key demographic ratings. Meltzer reported that AEW’s lead-in Big Bang Theory drew 902,000 viewers and a 0.20 rating.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Summer Olympic Games drew 13,099,000 viewers on NBC and 1,097,000 viewers on USA Network, the MLB game of San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates drew 189,000 viewers on FS1, the 2024 Little League World Series Regional game of Indiana vs. Illinois drew 481,000 viewers on ESPN, Sistas Series drew 830,000 viewers on BET, The Challenge drew 249,000 viewers on MTV, and Pawn Stars drew 450,000 viewers on History Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 257,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership skew was 67.3% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 25.2% in overall viewership and down 31.1% in key demographic viewership.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for August 2nd
The August 2nd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership, a large decline in key demographic rankings, and a small decline in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 209,000 viewers and a 0.07 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 21st place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to a combination of stiff sports competition from the 2024 Summer Olympics Games that night and the large decline from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 40.2% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the increase from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 5.7% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s show overall viewership was the lowest ever for a show and its key demographic rating was tied for the lowest ever for a show in Rampage series history. Meltzer reported that one main reason contributing to Rampage’s series low viewership was it had generated a 1.28 viewers per home average and well below their usual average for shows.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Summer Olympics Games drew 13,112,000 viewers on NBC and 1,175,000 viewers on USA Network, Hoffman Family Gold drew 475,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, On Patrol Live drew 715,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After First Look drew 414,000 viewers on TLC.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 91,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 71.4% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 51.8% in overall viewership and down 49.7% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 47.1% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the large declines is due to the lack of Olympics Games competition for last year’s show.

The August 3rd episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership and a large decline in key demographic rankings and key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for being a taped and not a live show and also being preempted to an earlier start time of 5PM EST due to AEW and TNT wanting to avoid going head-to-head against WWE SummerSlam 2024’s main show.
AEW drew 189,000 viewers and a 0.08 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 22nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to a combination of the earlier than usual start time, WWE holding a PPV/PLE event that night, the very stiff sports competition from the 2024 Summer Olympics Games that night and the large declines from their Over 50 demographic viewership group and overall key demographic viewership group, which was down 37.1% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that the bulk of AEW’s key demographic viewership drop came from their older key demographic viewership group. Meltzer also reported that week’s show overall viewership was the lowest ever for a show in Collision series history.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Summer Olympics Games Prime Access drew 2,595,000 viewers on USA Network, the 2024 Summer Olympics Games Weekend PM drew 1,636,000 viewers on USA Network, the MLB game of Milwaukee Brewers vs. Washington Nationals drew 246,000 viewers on MLB network, and the soccer game of Manchester City vs. Chelsea drew 172,000 viewers on ESPN.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 100,000 viewers.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 54.7% in overall viewership and down 39% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 23.8% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the large declines is due to the lack of Olympics Games competition for last year’s show but went head-to-head against WWE’s SummerSlam 2023 event.
