Jacob Fatu Injury Situation Update & WWE’s Current Plans for Fatu’s Return and WWE Tag Team Titles

As noted before, Jacob Fatu suffered an ankle injury at WWE’s SumemrSlam 2024 event earlier this month in Cleveland, Ohio. Fatu was seen wearing a walking boot the following day but it is currently not known if Fatu’s injury was just for storyline purposes or a legitimate injury.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE officials are currently expecting for Fatu to return to in-ring action by the end of August. Johnson reported that details regarding the specific nature nor severity of Fatu’s injury situation is currently not known.

Johnson reported that several talent within WWE had believed Fatu suffered a legitimate injury at WWE’s SummerSlam 2024 event but one source within WWE “blew off the idea” when asked for confirmation. Johnson speculated that Fatu’s absence from this past Friday’s SmackDown show might imply that Fatu’s injury was legitimate but as a minor one.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources also have yet to confirm if Fatu’s injury is legitimate or not. Meltzer reported that WWE officials current plans for Fatu was to keep him away from Roman Reigns until the time is right for a confrontation between the two. Meltzer reported that the reason is due to WWE officials want to keep Fatu special by not having him bump around for Reigns.

In regaards to the current situation with the WWE Tag Team Championship, Meltzer reported that those within WWE stated that the champions are whoever the two men Solo Sikoa picks from The Bloodline. Meltzer reported that while WWE never explained this on television, they are currently working through that idea in order for the belts to be defended by The Bloodline while Fatu is out for the time being.
