Backstage Update On Bryan Danielson’s Health Status, Retirement Plans, & AEW’s Original Plans Being Changed for Danielson’s Final In-Ring Run

AEW reportedly changed their original plans for Bryan Danielson’s final in-ring run of his wrestling career due to health-related issues. according to Fightful Select.

It was reported that their sources stated that AEW’s plans for Danielson’s road to All In 2024 started getting planned out since at least this past Spring. It was reported that AEW’s original plans for Danielson during this period were changed due to medical-related issues over AEW doctors approving Danielson to wrestle at All In 2024 and his recent match against Jeff Jarrett but not this past July’s Blood & Guts 2024 match.

AEW officials reportedly has become very aware in the last few months that Danielson’s final in-ring run and potential matches coming out of their All In 2024 event could be fewer than originally expected. This reportedly was the reason why Danielson has only worked one match in the past month and a half between the Finals of the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament and All In 2024.

In regards to Danielson’s contract status, Danielson reportedly has legitimately been working without an active contract in AEW for the past three weeks and has even continues to handle his duties as part of AEW’s Disciplinary Committee under the terms of his AEW talent deal.

Those within AEW spoken to reportedly stated that AEW officials expect renewed efforts to reach a new working agreement of some kind once he wraps up his current in-ring run.

Those spoken to reportedly also stated that AEW CEO Tony Khan has a great deal of trust in Danielson, who is viewed as being selfless and fully invested in the growth of the company. AEW talent reportedly hold a similar trust and view of Danielson.

Danielson reportedly has lobbied against becoming a champion in AEW many times, similar to what Sting did during his run in the company. Danielson reportedly went one step further than that many times by lobbying to lose the vast majority of his matches. Some of those spoken to reportedly pointed out how Danielson would seen to feel he made a mistake when he would win matches.

It was also reported that there has been no word regarding Danielson saying goodbye to anyone in the company over his looming retirement. It was reported that even if Danielson retires from active in-ring competition after All In 2024, he is very much expected to remain around AEW to contribute on some level.
