Mercedes Mone Confirms She has Divorced Her Husband

In a recent video posted on her YouTube channel, Mercedes Mone confirmed that she recently filed paperwork to finalize her divorce with her husband Sarath Ton. Prior to their divorce, Mone and Ton had been married since 2016.

On the topic of the reason why she decided to go public about her divorce for the pilot episode of her new Mone Talks video series, Mone stated:

“That’s part of why I wanted to do this pilot too, because tomorrow, finally, after a long, long time, I’ll be finally signing my divorce papers. I’m excited, happy. And for me, I’m just ready to be free.
I’m ready to be free of not being afraid.”

Mone also revealed that she and her husband have been separated since the end of 2020 and gave her reasons why she kept news of it as a secret.

For so long, I’ve kept this secret because of how fast life has been going and so much that has been happening in wrestling and everything, and I just didn’t want the outside world to judge or say anything, especially during the time this all was happening.

We’ve been separated for a long time. We got separated at the end of December 2020. He finally moved out in January 2021. I was shooting The Mandalorian, plus trying everything in my power to be the main event of WrestleMania, so of course I [didn’t] want this stuff to get out.

I’m getting a divorce. And Sarath, my ex-husband now, we have such a great relationship, and he’s such an amazing, incredible guy I’m so thankful for, and he’s another person who changed and saved my life. But I’m excited to be free and to say that I’m finally getting a divorce.

Mone also gave her thoughts about keeping her separation from her husband as a secret from WWE due to her not knowing how Vince McMahon would have reacted to the news.

You don’t know what Vince is going to do, you don’t know what he’s going to change, because Vince is very…

I was in a storyline with Bianca [Belair], Carmella, and Carmella’s sommelier [Reggie], and Vince was so obsessed with me and the sommelier, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, he wanted us to be together,’ and all this stuff. So me and Sarath decided we were going to keep this a secret.

And then a year goes by and I still don’t want to say anything, and then here comes the [WWE] walkout. Like, all this stuff happens.”

Mone also gave her thoughts about the divorce proceeding took a long time but she is happy for her new freedom.

And then we were trying to get our divorce and the divorce lawyer just took so long, and now we’re finally here. My heart already just feels so much better being, like, ‘I’m free.'”
