AEW CEO Tony Khan held a media scrum on Thursday to promote this Sunday’s All In 2024 event at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
Some of the notable highlights included:
- On the topic of the reports of AEW planning to hold an event in Australia in 2025, Khan stated “I just wanted to address some reports regarding AEW potentially running an event in Australia. We can confirm that we’re currently looking at various locations in Australia to potentially run an event sometime next year in 2025. We’ll have more information about this in the near future. 2025 is going to be a milestone year. Just as this is a milestone year, I think 2025 [there will be] even more great milestones to come.“
- As noted before, Ricky Starks has been out of action for AEW since this past March due to a head-injury scare incident and AEW officials not having any creative plans for his return. On the topic of Ricky Stark’s current contract status with AEW, Khan stated “Ricky has been a great star in AEW, been a champion here, and has had great matches here. I think very highly of Ricky. He’s somebody that has been here for several years and he’s under contract in AEW. He’s a well-regarded wrestler here in AEW.“
- On the topic of AEW’s working relationship with Warner Bros Discovery, Khan stated that the relationship between AEW and AEW has never “been stronger” after the two sides met in Paris. Khan declined to comment when asked if AEW has spoken with any other parties outside of WBD nor if the exclusive negotiating window has expired.
- On the topic of next year’s All In event taking place in Texas, Khan stated that many of his favorite moments as a promoter happened in Texas. Khan also stated that fans have been requesting AEW to hold a pay-per-view event in Texas for years and he is excited to be able to present one to them.
- On the topic of if the Von Erichs will be at All In 2024, Khan confirmed that the Von Erichs will be in London for All In 2024 weekend.
- On the topic of this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show not airing live on TrillerTV, Khan stated that he legally can not air AEW Dynamite shows internationally before it airs on TBS due to WBD owning the broadcast rights and them paying 97% of AEW’s television revenue.
- On the topic of AEW returning to the United Kingdom for a potential pay-per-view event in 2025, Khan stated “Certainly on the table. Definitely something we would consider. I absolutely love the UK. I’ve spent a lot of my life living in England and specifically London. I love it. It’s great being back here and great traveling in the UK.“
