Cody Rhodes Responds to Solo Sikoa & Bloodline’s Attack Towards Him & Randy Orton

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show featured Cody Rhodes addressing Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline’s attack on him and Randy Orton on last week’s show.

At the start of the show, Rhodes made his way to the ring greeting several fans at ringside including boxer Terence Crawford. Rhodes then got into the ring and grabbed a microphone and talked about Randy Orton. Rhodes stated that he has the privileged of calling Randy a friend and before that, he was a mentor to him. Rhodes stated that he would not be standing in the ring as WWE Championship without Orton. After some “Randy” chants by the crowd, Rhodes stated “imagine the guilt when a man who has five children, a wife, a family, to imagine Cody’s guilt when he watched The Bloodline put Randy through a table.” Rhodes stated that family is not always blood and called Orton family and his brother. Rhodes stated that if Orton was here too, he would not want him to talk about guilt or shame. Rhodes then stated that he would rather look at the camera and directly talk to the man responsible, Solo Sikoa.

Rhodes stated he looked Sikoa in the eyes before WrestleMania 39 and he told him that Solo is not ready. Rhodes then stated that Sikoa paid him back by costing him the title he is holding, the title they will compete for at SummerSlam. Rhodes then asked Sikoa how it feels knowing that he is still standing as WWE Champion.

This led to A-Town Down Under’s music playing and Grayson Waller and Austin Theory coming out. Theory stated that Rhodes spends a lot of time talking about The Bloodline and because of him, Jacob Fatu attacked them last week and his teeth are swollen. Rhodes responded stating he thought Theory’s teeth were swollen because his partner kneed him in the face. Waller responded stating that Cody is pushing that narrative but the reason all of that happened last week was because of Rhodes himself.

Theory and Walker proceeded to get into the ring leading to Rhodes attacking both resulting in Theory and Walker quickly getting the upper hand and tossed Rhodes out of the ring. This led to Crawford handing Rhodes a chair and Rhodes using it to attack Theory and Walker sending both out of the ring in return.

In a follow-up segment, Rhodes was seen walking backstage and confronted SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Rhodes stated that he will give him a freebie and demanded a match with A-Town Down Under. Aldis refused at first stating that it would look bad on his end if he sent the WWE Champion out there in a 2-on-1 Handicap match and told Rhodes to find a tag team partner by the end of the night if he wants the match.

In another follow-up segment, Rhodes was seen backstage heading his way out for his tag team match. Rhodes stopped for a mystery person off-screen. This mystery person was revealed to be Kevin Owens who told Rhodes that he will see him out there, revealing himself in the process to be Rhodes’ mystery partner.

LA Knight vs. Logan Paul for US Title Made Official for SummerSlam 2024

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show also featured one new match officially announced for SummerSlam 2024, which takes place on August 3rd at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

This new match announced was an United States Championship match of LA Knight vs. Logan Paul (c).

This match was initially setup over recent weeks shows over Knight’s bad blood issues with Paul and Knight revealing an official match contract that was just waiting for Paul’s signature.

During tonight’s show, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis was seen in the ring holding a match contract for the United States Championship for SummerSlam 2024. After some words by Aldis, Aldis stated that all that is missing is the signature of Paul. Aldis then introduced Knight and Paul, who both came out to the ring one after the other. Paul grabbed the contract and stated that he wants to ask the fans a question. Paul asked why he would give this “Hillbilly Aladdin” a shot for his U.S. title. Knight responded stating that maybe Paul is right but the one thing he thinks about is that every time they have been face to face, LA Knight has owned and cooked him.

Knight stated that one year ago, he walked down the ring and presented Logan a map and told him it would give him the direction of where he can put his bottles of Prime. Knight stated that in the mean time, Paul became the U.S. Champion and he can’t take that away from him. After some more words from Knight about taking matters into his own hands after Paul told him no for a title shot, Knight stated that he wants to do it again and he chases him around the world.

Paul interrupted stating that Knight sounds pathetic. Paul stated that LA Knight needs this match against him but he does not need the match and that is a fact. Paul stated that they are not the same and the difference is that Knight’s existence is defined by what he does in the ring but not him. Paul then proceeded to boast about all the big stuff he has done outside of the ring and wrestling and stated that him and his brother are building a legacy. Paul then insulted Knight stated that Knight wants to be a Champion but he is not him and Knight has not had a single defining moment of the last twenty years. Paul stated that Knight is pretending to be The Rock, which led to Knight responding back mocking Paul saying he never heard that before and leave it to Logan to use old material. Knight then insulted Paul calling him a fraud by pretending to be a U.S. Champion and doesn’t have the balls to jump in the ring with him and balls must not run in the family.

After some words in response by Paul and Paul signing the contract, Knight and Paul got involved in a heated confronted that was broken up by Aldis. Paul left the ring teasing he was heading to the back only to quickly run back into the ring and attacked Knight leading to a brawl between the two. This brawl ended with Knight getting the last laugh and sent Paul out of the ring.
