IYO SKY Defeats Utami Hayashishita at Marigold Summer Destiny 2024

Saturday’s Summer Destiny 2024 event for Marigold in Tokyo, Japan featured WWE talent IYO SKY defeating Utami Hayashishita.

Prior to the start of the match, SKY came out to the ring under her WWE entrance theme and wore a mask similar to the one she wore during her time as part of Queen’s Quest in Stardom.

The ending to the match involved SKY hitting a Tombstone piledriver to Hayashishita and followed it up with an Over The Moonsault for the pinfall victory.


Davey Boy Smith Jr. Reportedly Signs Contract with AJPW

Major League Wrestling and indies talent Davey Boy Smith Jr. reportedly recently signed a contract with All Japan Pro Wrestling, according to the Wrestling Observer.

Dave Meltzer reported in a special edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Smith Jr. recently signed a contract with AJPW that is for six months in length.

Meltzer reported that Smith Jr. will still be keeping his international commitment next month and his deal with AJPW is currently believed to run from AJPW’s August 3rd event in Sendai and run through January of 2025.

Meltzer also reported that Smith Jr. will be mostly living in Japan during this time period.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

As noted before, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre Stephanie Vaquer departed from the company this past Wednesday and recently signed a contract with WWE. Revolution Pro Wrestling recently announced on Twitter that despite Vaquer pulling out of their upcoming event, Dani Luna will still be defending her Undisputed British Women’s Championship at their 12th Anniversary Show on August 24th in London, England.

The National Wrestling Alliance Recently announced that they have recently signed The Immortals (JR Kratos & Odinson) to an exclusive contract with the company.

Marigold announced that they will be holding their first ever summer tournament called DREAM✴︎STAR GP staring on August 31st in Osaka, Japan.

Saturday’s Marigold Summer Destiny 2024 event in Tokyo, Japan featured Sareee defeating Giulia to become the inaugural Marigold World Champion.

In a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Marigold talent Zayda Steel stated that she is currently not under an actual contract with the company and instead is still a free agent. Steel stated “I am… Let me say this right now. Say it loud and clear. I am under no contracts with no company. I do what I want, when I want, and I might decide to stay for a year. I might decide to leave next week. Who knows? Just got to keep your eye out, but no, I’m no contracts.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

Major League Wrestling recently announced that this year’s Never Say Never event will be airing on August 10th on their official YouTube channel.

Saturday’s MLW Blood & Thunder 2024 event in St. Petersburg, Florida featured actor Paul Walter Hausen issuing a challenge to “Filthy” Tom Lawlor for a MMA Cage match at a future MLW event. This match was later made official by MLW for a future event.
