Stephanie Vaquer Departs from CMLL [Update – Vaquer Expected to Join WWE]

Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that Vaquer has had talks with both AEW and WWE and both companies have maintained interest towards her.

It was reported that those spoken to stated that Vaquer is not signed with AEW nor is close to finalizing a deal with the company but had conveyed her interest with the company. WWE reportedly had showed interest towards Vaquer after AEW and NJPW’s Forbidden Door 2024 event and those spoken to within AEW believed that she was likely headed to WWE.

Record reported that one source close to the situation confirmed that Vaquer will be heading to WWE and had signed a multi-year contract with the company.


As noted before, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre talent Stephanie Vaquer recently received contract offers from WWE and AEW.

CMLL announced earlier today on Twitter that Vaquer has abruptly departed from the company.

It was announced that Vaquer had recently informed the company that she would not be working at their upcoming FantasticaMania USA event for personal reasons. It was also announced that as a result, she is no longer working for both the company and also New Japan Pro Wrestling as of toady.

It was also announced that as a result of her departure, Vaquer has been stripped of her CMLL World Women’s and World Women’s Tag Team Championships.

“CMLL-NJPW SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT We want to inform you that Stephanie Vaquer has abruptly informed us that she will not participate, for personal reasons, in her next fight at FantasticaMania USA. As of today, she also no longer belongs to the CMLL and NJPW.

Thank you for supporting Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).

Citing personal reasons, Stephanie Vaquer has elected to depart from the CMLL and NJPW rosters effective immediately.

As a result, Vaquer will not compete in her scheduled match against Lluvia at Fantasticamania July 13 in San Jose. Furthermore, CMLL hereby announces Vaquer is stripped of both the CMLL World Women’s and World Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Both CMLL and NJPW would like to apologize to our fans worldwide for the abrupt announcement.

This Saturday at FantasticaMania USA, a new CMLL World Women’s Champion will be crowned in a three way match: CMLL World Women’s Championship: Lluvia (CMLL) vs Viva Van (NJPW) vs Willow Nightingale (AEW)

LuchaBlog reported that the nature of Vaquer’s departure likely suggests that she is heading to WWE next.

Following her match against Tessa Blanchard at CMLL’s event on Tuesday in Mexico, Vaquer embraces Blanchard and appeared to be saying goodbye to fans leading to speculation of her leaving the company soon.
