As noted before, this past Saturday’s TNA Slammiversary 2024 event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada featured “Speedball” Mike Bailey defeating Mustafa Ali to become the new TNA X-Division Champion. This match was notable for former WWE and TNA referee Earl Hebner making a surprise appearance.
A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured Bailey as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Bailey’s thoughts about his TNA X-Division title victory and Hebner’s surprise appearance during his match at the event.
“Man, what an absolutely incredible weekend it was. Just to be home. It was the one, two, three, straight jab combo, right hook of being at home, defeating the undefeated Mustafa Ali to become two-time X Division Champion and having Earl Hebner be the star of the show if we’re being honest, get his story of redemption. Coming back to Montreal. It felt absolutely surreal.”
Bailey also praised PCO for his hard work helping promote this year’s Slammiversary event to become the most successful event for TNA in years in terms of attendance.
“I landed last Sunday in Montreal and the first day, as soon as I got back home, we went straight to the arena. Me and PCO went to a basketball game for the Montreal Alliance at the venue and I’ve been doing interviews every day of the week ever since last Sunday. But the man we really have to credit for the house is PCO. That man has been working tirelessly for months to fill this venue for Slammiversary specifically. PCO said it, filling out this specific arena was his childhood dream and he did absolutely everything in his power for the last several months to make that happen.”
