Note on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 3rd

Due to the July 4th holiday week and the ratings for the July 3rd AEW Dynamite show being delayed till this past Friday, ratings-related information were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

As noted before, AEW drew 688,000 viewers and a 0.23 key demographic rating for their July 3rd episode. This week’s episode was notable for being the Dynamite Beach Break 2024 special.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for June 28th

The June 28th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a small decline on overall viewership and key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 303,000 viewers and a 0.09 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night is currently not known.

Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to stiff news coverage of the aftermath of the first 2024 Presidential Debate and the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 20% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 US Olympic Trials drew 4,651,000 viewers on NBC, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Paraguay vs. Brazil drew 916,000 viewers on FS1, the 2024 NHL Draft drew 502,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals drew 265,000 viewers on MLB Network, On Patrol Live drew 669,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and Zillow Gone Wild drew 664,000 viewers on Home and Garden Network.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 120,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 55.6% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 25.4% in overall viewership and down 29.8% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 33.3% compared to the same week last year.

AEW Rampage quarter hour viewership breakdowns were:

  • 1Q – 354,000 overall viewers and 126,000 key demo viewers (2-on-1 Handicap match of Orange Cassidy vs. The Outrunners, the Learning Tree backstage interview segment, and the start of the Roderick Strong & Gabe Kidd vs. The Infantry tag team match)
  • 2Q – 312,000 overall viewers and 121,000 key demo viewers (Rest of the Strong & Kidd vs. The Infantry tag team match and the Vacant TNT Championship Ladder Qualifier match of El Phantasmo vs. AR Fox)
  • 3Q – 283,000 overall viewers and 113,000 key demo viewers (Deonna Purrazzo backstage interview segment, the Shingo Takagi vs. Dalton Castle match, and The Outcasts backstage promo segment)
  • 4Q – 264,000 overall viewers and 119,000 key demo viewers (Skye Blue vs. Queen Aminata match & post-match brawl with Red Velvet)

More on AEW Collision Viewership for June 29th

The June 29th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership, key demographic ratings, and key demographic rankings. That week’s show was notable for being a taped and not live show.

AEW drew 422,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 11th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to stiffer than usual sports competition that night from UFC and soccer and the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 23.9% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 US Olympic Trials drew 4,642,000 viewers on NBC, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Argentina vs. Peru drew 900,000 viewers on FS1, the MLB game of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants drew 2,472,000 viewers on FOX, the UFC 303 Prelims 1,067,000 viewers on ESPN, and On Patrol Live drew 741,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 164,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 68% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 6.6% in overall viewership and down 7.7% in key demographic viewership.
