Update on AEW Dynamite Week 248 Viewership
As noted before, AEW drew 688,000 viewers and a 0.23 key demographic rating for their July 3rd episode. This week’s episode was notable for being the Dynamite Beach Break 2024 special.
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter included viewership and ratings breakdowns that were not available during that week due to the July 4th holiday.
Dave Meltzer reported that AEW’s numbers that week can be viewed as a big success due to typical viewership for wrestling shows on the night before July 4th tend to be down 20-25% and general cable television key demographic viewership that night was down 25% compared to the prior week. Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 48.4% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the very large decline in AEW’s lead-in Big Bang Theory’s viewership, which drew 756,000 viewers and a 0.13 rating, and their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 17.6% compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 300,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 62.2% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 19.5% in overall viewership and down 21.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 8.5% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 10th
The July 10th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a slight increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 691,000 viewers and a 0.23 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 5th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to the small increase from their older key demographic viewership and Over 50 demographic viewership groups, which its percentages were not given. This reportedly offset the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 8.5% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s lead-in Big Bang Theory drew 860,000 viewers and a 0.13 rating.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Colombia vs. Uruguay drew 2,145,000 viewers on FS1, the MLB game of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Philadelphia Phillies drew 1,337,000 viewers on ESPN, Expedition Unknown drew 877,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Sistas Series drew 873,000 viewers on BET.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 309,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 58,000 viewers, Females 18-34 had 71,000 viewers, Males 34-49 had 120,000 viewers, and Females 34-49 had 60,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 57.4% in favor of males.
In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that WWE’s NXT show that week managed to top AEW’s Dynamite show in 18-49 viewership for only the fourth time in Dynamite history. Meltzer reported that the gap between the two shows was only 2,000 viewers with 311,000 for NXT compared to 309,000 for Dynamite.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 16.2% in overall viewership and down 19.2% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 16.2% compared to the same week last year.

The July 5th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a slight increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for being the Rampage Beach Break 2024 special.
AEW drew 309,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 10th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the very large increase from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 50% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large declines from their older key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which its percentages were not given.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Copa America game of Venezuela vs. Canada drew 1,398,000 viewers on FS1 and 340,000 viewers on TUDN and 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After First Look drew 532,000 viewers on TLC.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 138,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 61.9% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 16% in overall viewership and down 12.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 20% compared to the same week last year.

The July 6th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership, a large decline in key demographic rankings, and a small decline in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for going head-to-head against WWE’s Money In The Bank 2024 event.
AEW drew 308,000 viewers and a 0.08 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 18th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the very stiff competition that night from WWE’s Money In the Bank event and the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 40.7% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s overall viewership and key demographic viewership were the lowest for a Collision show since the January 27th show which had went head-to-head against WWE’s Royal Rumble 2024 event.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Uruguay vs. Brazil drew 2,144,000 viewers on FS1, the MLB game of Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers drew 2,700,000 viewers on FOX, the NBA Summer League game of Miami Heat vs. Golden State Warriors drew 396,000 viewers on ESPN, and Deadly Waters drew 363,000 viewers on Oxygen.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 112,000 viewers.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 47.2% in overall viewership and down 59.9% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 69.5% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that the reason for the very large declines was due to last year’s show did not go up against a WWE PLE event.
