As noted before, Bobby Lashley’s contract with WWE is currently set to expire within a month and as early as within the next few weeks.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources confirmed that Lashley’s contract is currently set to expire soon. Those same sources reportedly also stated that Lashley and MVP are currently expected to be leaving WWE once their contracts expire.
Meltzer reported that those within WWE are currently under the assumption that Lashley and MVP are leaving and they will try to revive the Hurt Business stable. Lashley and MVP reportedly are also currently interested in bringing back Shelton Benjamin for the revival of their group.
In regards to a potential future destination for Lashley and MVP, Meltzer reported that there has been some talk of them being interested in going to AEW. Meltzer reported that this something that nobody can technically talk about for potential deals due to Lashley and MVP are still under contracts with WWE.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that the current expectation within WWE is that Lashley and MVP will be leaving soon.
Johnson reported that MVP’s current contract expires in mid-August and there have not been any major talks of yet for a potential new deal. Johnson also reported that WWE officials did have talks at one point about potentially using MVP as a producer or announcer but nothing ever really came about it. Those spoken to stated that there had been some sort of tryouts for MVP for these roles at some point in the past.
In regards to Lashley, Johnson reported that WWE officials had made a contract offer to him but it was described by one source to not have been something that immediately made him “jump to sign.” Lashley reportedly is strongly considering seeing what he would be worth out on the market.
In regards to the Hurt Business name, Johnson reported that Lashley and MVP would not be able to use this name for their plans to revive the group outside of WWE due to WWE currently owns the trademark for it.
