Tony Khan Comments on Potential for a AEW x WWE SuperShow in the Future

A recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show featured AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about the potential for a AEW x WWE Supershow event in the future.

“I would love if that were possible (doing AEW x WWE supershow). I don’t know that it is, but it would be great if it was possible, for the fans. I think that would be wonderful but, there are a lot of challenging business things in the world of pro wrestling that I think would make that a very challenging thing to do.”

In a recent virtual fan signing event for K & S WrestleFest, Raj Dhesi, former Jinder Mahal in WWE, gave his thoughts about his Twitter exchange with AEW CEO Tony Khan this past January that revolved around Khan bringing up the hypocrisy by wrestling fans being upset over HOOK getting a shot for the AEW World title and not doing the same for Mahal getting a shot for the WWE World title. Dhesi stated “Tony (Khan) just said, ‘Where’s the backlash when Jinder’s getting a championship match? When HOOK is 28-0 or 28-1 or something.’ That was the thing and I just said, ‘Who the —- is HOOK?’ That was it… Yeah, I’m a former WWE Champion (so I should be able to get a title shot). But then I actually started watching HOOK and I really like his style. I like his demeanor, his style, everything about him. He’s like the next generation, right? The next generation, the next evolution of pro wrestling. HOOK is one of the best… We’re just having fun on Twitter. It’s just wrestling.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, MJF gave his thoughts about the recent praise he received from WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair on Twitter following his victory for the AEW International Championship on last week’s AEW Dynamite 250 show. MJF stated “There’s a reason that after my match, Ric Flair posted a side-by-side comparison photo. I’m Ric Flair incarnated–and with all due respect to Ric, better. What’s this company without MJF? It’s boring. This is the most people have talked about my company in months. Thank me later. If you’re not going to give me my just due now, you’ll have to when it’s all said and done. I’m the most interesting man in professional wrestling. I’ve been that way since I laced up a pair of boots. There are two types of people: the ones who admit I’m probably the greatest overall package in the history of this sport, and then there are people who want to pretend they know better. They won’t admit what’s right in front of them. For years, people said John Cena was not the GOAT. They said Randy Orton was boring. Those people actually exist in the world. Those are the type of the people who see mediocrity when they look in the mirror, and you can quote me on that.
