Kenny Omega Diverticulitis Injury Status Update
As noted before, Kenny Omega has been out of action for AEW since this past January due to him suffering from diverticulitis and underwent surgery this past May for it. Omega made an in-person return appearance at the May 1st AEW Dynamite and Rampage shows in Winnipeg, which was notable for Omega getting physical in the ring during The Elite’s brawl with him.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there have been no new updates from his sources regarding Omega’s recovery beyond him doing better of late health-wise.
Meltzer reported that a potential timetable for Omega’s return to AEW is currently not known but the current feeling within AEW is that he will be returning and his career is not over. Meltzer also reported that Omega has yet to be medically cleared to start any training for a potential return.
The Von Erichs Announces Return to AEW for Upcoming AEW Collision Residency in Texas
A recent episode of The Von Erich Podcast featured former Major League Wrestling talents and co-hosts Marshall and Ross Von Erich revealing that they have signed a deal with AEW for several dates for AEW’s upcoming Collision residency in Arlington, Texas.
Marshall Von Erich stated:
“On Saturday, we will be returning to AEW. I don’t know if we can share the other dates. Next couple of Saturdays. It’s the 20th [of July]. We’re super pumped. We’re super excited.”
On the topic of if this was just a new run in AEW or if they had signed with the company, Marshall stated:
“Yeah, we signed some matches. We did sign for a few matches, but we’ll see what comes from this. Be ready for some more announcements and all that, but we’re gonna go down there and show them why when you’re in Texas, you have to have the Von Erichs.”
Ross Von Erich gave his thoughts about their upcoming run in AEW being like a job interview.
“When you go to a place like that, it’s almost like a job interview, basically. You have all your fans that have been there with you, and they’re cheering you…We keep saying it, man, the timing’s perfect. I just can’t wait for AEW to see the bump that the Von Erichs can bring in Texas and the support we have there.”

Update on QT Marshall & Jen Pepperman’s Work in AEW Creative
As noted before, QT Marshall returned to AEW this past February and resumed his backstage executive duties within the company. Besides Marshall’s return, AEW had also hired former WWE Senior writer Jennifer Pepperman for a Vice President of Content Development job this past February as well.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Marshall’s return to AEW’s creative team was pointed out to be a key thing of late. Meltzer speculated that Marshall’s time in Mexico for Lucha Libre AAA likely will be ending soon despite AAA officials being super high on him over his work as a heel for the company.
In regards to Pepperman, Meltzer reported that the rumors of her being the head booker of AEW’s Women’s division is not true. Meltzer reported that while Pepperman is Mercedes Mone’s go-to-person for creative stuff, she had been working with more than just Mone in the company. Pepperman reportedly has received praise from those within AEW for her work on the promos for Mone and Britt Baker’s segment, as well as her work for promos for many other men and women talents. Meltzer reported that Pepperman’s work for Mar Briscoe and Will Ospreay’s recent promos being two of the most notable work she has done of late.
