Ric Flair Comments He Had Pitched Turning on Sting for Sting’s Retirement Match at AEW Revolution 2024

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Ric Flair as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Flair revealing that he had pitched the idea of turning on Sting for Sting’s retirement match at this past March’s AEW Revolution 2024 event.

“I gave them a finish to that match. They looked at me like I had seven different things….I don’t think Tony (Khan) knew that I was on blood thinners. I’ve been doing all that shit for all these years. I’ve had that blood clot since 2012. Tony, if he asked me once, he asked me ten times, ‘Do not cut yourself.’ What I wanted to do. I wanted those guys to have the same match, but at the end, instead of leaving my laying there like that, just keep me on the outside the whole time. At the end, as Sting is standing there and those guys are gone, I jump on Sting, boom, boom, boom, he does one big move to me, puts the scorpion (death lock) on me, and we go out the way we started 31 years ago. It would have blown the roof off the joint and it would have made me a heel so I had somewhere to go. It’s hard to get the people to get mad at me now.

I haven’t heard back from them since. ‘Ric that’s a great idea. We’ll call you later on.'”

In response to a comment made by co-host Mark Henry about Flair was unlikely to hear back from AEW, Flair responded stating:

“I think we disappointed a lot of people by me not turning.”

Bryan Danielson Comments on AEW All In 2024 Feeling Like a Capstone to 2024 Being Last Year as Full-time Wrestler

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Bryan Danielson. One of the topics discussed included Danielson’s thoughts about missing out on getting to compete at last year’s AEW All In event and his excitement in being able to do so for this year’s event because of his feeling of it being a capstone of his final year as a full-time wrestler.

“I was really bummed out last year when I couldn’t do All In. I sat at home watching, seeing more than 80,000 people there. Especially with this being my last year as a full-time wrestler, this really feels like a capstone to the whole thing.”

Danielson also gave his thoughts about his upcoming match against Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at next month’s AEW All In 2024 event.

“Swerve’s been an incredible champion. I can’t get over the match he had with Ospreay. How do you even compete with those guys? It was that amazing.”
