Piper Niven vs. Bayley for WWE Women’s Title Announced for Clash at the Castle 2024
WWE announced one new match for the card of their Clash at the Castle 2024 event, which takes place on June 15th at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
This new match announced was a WWE Women’s Championship match of Piper Niven vs. Bayley (c).
This match was setup following the bad blood issues between Niven and Bayley in recent weeks over Niven’s attacks on her.
The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line when @itsBayleyWWE defends her title against Scotland’s own, @PiperNivenWWE.

More on NXT Viewership for May 28, 2024
The May 28th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a large increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings and a small increase in key demographic rankings.
NXT drew 703,000 viewers and a 0.24 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking was 6th place.
Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that the main reasons for NXT’s increases this week was due to the very large gain from their key demographic viewership, which was up 41.5% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to rapper Sexyy Red’s announced appearance for the show. This reportedly offset the stiff sports competition from the 2024 NBA and NHL Playoffs games that night.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals Game 4 of Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks drew 6,736,000 viewers on TNT and 132,000 viewers on TruTV, the 2024 NHL Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals Game 4 of New York Rangers vs. Florida Panthers drew 2,071,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets drew 228,000 viewers on TBS, the WNBA game of Los Angeles Sparks vs. Indiana Fever drew 356,000 viewers on NBA TV, Vanderpump Rules drew 1,046,000 viewers on BRAVO, The Valley drew 640,000 viewers on BRAVO, Chopped drew 478,000 viewers on Food Network, and Catfish drew 313,000 viewers on MTV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 317,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that NXT’s males/females viewership split was 65.3% in favor of males.
In terms of peak viewership, NXT’s peak overall viewership was at 772,000 viewers for the quarter hour featuring the Roxanne Perez & Jordynne Grace promo segment. NXT’s peak key demographic viewership was at 356,000 viewers for the same quarter hour.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 15.8% in overall viewership and up 41.5% in key demographic viewership.
WWE News & Notes
As noted before, WWE currently has plans for Bo Dallas and the Uncle Howdy character’s return to the company. Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Albany, New York featured a new video teaser for Bo Dallas and Uncle Howdy’s upcoming return to WWE. During the show, the screen briefly glitched and a flashed a new QR code. When scanned, this leads to a new website featuring a collection of all the past clues and videos. The bottom of the webpage features a clickable image of a frowning face with x’s for eyes. When clicked on, it leads to a picture of several new messages written on pieces of paper including, “save yourself” and “will tell you more tomorrow.”
As noted before, WWE dropped all of their plans for Brock Lesnar’s potential return to the company due to his involvement in the recent Vince McMahon sex trafficking lawsuit. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the only real way Lesnar would be able to make a potential return to the company is if WWE’s legal department were to clear him.

Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that WWE generated a live gate of $2,022,405 for their WWE SmackDown and Hall of Fame 2024 show on April 5th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based on a public records request to the Philadelphia State Athletic Commission. Thurston reported that WWE also generated a live gate of $1,109,245 for their NXT Stand & Deliver 2024 event on April 6th and $2,243,015 for their April 7th RAW show also at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
WWE President Nick Khan reportedly was among those in attendance at Sukeban’s event this past Thursday in Los Angeles, California, according to PWInsider.
In a recent Q&A article, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that it is currently not known why WWE did not announce nor present a Warrior Award at this past April’s WWE Hall of Fame 2024 ceremony in Philadelphia. Johnson speculated that WWE might have gotten rid of the award due to Dana Warrior no longer works in the company.
In a recent interview with the Washington Examiner, WWE Hall of Famer and current Mayor of Knox County Glenn Jacobs gave his thoughts about if he is interested in running for Governor of Tennessee. Jacobs stated “Yes. I have two more years in office and am term-limited, so I’m considering my options, including whether I’ll remain in politics.“
As noted before, current TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace made a surprise appearance at this past Tuesday’s NXT show. In a recent interview with PWInsider, Grace gave her thoughts about when she first learned about her appearance for NXT. Grace stated “I think I probably found out about three weeks ago that it was officially happening. Initially, the only date I had was actually for Battleground, but I guess they decided they wanted to reintroduce me to the NXT, WWE audience So they gave me those two other dates, which was, this week and the next week. Yeah, just a few weeks ago, it finally all the details got ironed out and, obviously there’s a bunch of meetings I have to do and all this other stuff. So finally found out that it was actually happening just recently.” Grace also gave her thoughts about what she hopes TNA gains from their current working relationship with WWE. Grace stated “So the good thing about like this partnership is obviously the WWE’s influence and exposure and I think it really does have the potential to not only like kind of paint WWE in a good light because they’re playing nice with their companies and they’re getting really awesome, cool matches out of it. The exposure that TNA gets can help, ticket sales. It can help viewership for them in general. And it also helps the exposure for these individual wrestlers that are getting these opportunities. So honestly, I feel like this partnership is perfect because I don’t see a downside.“
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge podcast, wrestling legend Haku gave his thoughts about his sons Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa joining WWE. Haku stated “Paul Levesque, it’s his era, and thank you for Paul Levesque, it’s his time. So I appreciate that he brought my boys in, and they’re part of this great organization, WWE.” Haku also gave his thoughts about if he knew beforehand about his sons were going to join WWE. Haku stated “They kayfabed me the whole deal. I was surprised to see them there. [Asked whether he knew about it] No, I guess that was the deal [laughs], not to tell anybody, and they did a great job.
