More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 26th

The June 26th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership and a large increase in key demographic ratings but suffered a slight small decline in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 680,000 viewers and a 0.22 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 6th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to a combination of the return of the boost from their Big Bang Theory lead-in programming after last week’s absence and the large gains from their older key demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. Another reason reportedly was due to the small gain from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 4.4% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the stiff sports competition that night from the 2024 NBA Draft. Meltzer reported that Big Bang Theory drew 896,000 viewers and a 0.16 rating.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NBA Draft drew 2,193,000 viewers on ABC and 2,220,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Venezuela vs. Mexico drew 1,032,000 viewers on FS1 and 557,000 viewers on TUDN, the MLB simulcat games of New York Yankees vs. New York Mets and Atlanta vs. St. Louis drew 304,000 viewers on MLB Network, Expedition Unknown drew 1,100,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Sistas Series drew 807,000 viewers on BET.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 288,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 44,000 viewers, Females 18-34 had 51,000 viewers, Males 34-49 had 132,000 viewers, and Females 34-49 had 73,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 60.7% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 846,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 613,000 viewers for their fourth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 15.9% in overall viewership and down 8.9% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 28.6% compared to the same week last year.

The June 21st episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 328,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 6th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the stiff sports competition that night from the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Finals and the small decline from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which was down 1.8% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the small gain from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 1.3% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 of Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers drew 4,237,000 viewers combined on ABC and ESPN, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Peru vs. Chile drew 407,000 viewers on FS1, On Patrol Live drew 710,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and Zillow Gone Wild drew 688,000 viewers on Home and Garden Network.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 156,000 viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 16.1% in overall viewership but up 6.7% in key demographic viewership.

The June 22nd episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings but gained a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 429,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 10th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the decline from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. This reportedly offset the large gains from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 7.2% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s show had the rare occurrence where the key demographic viewership for its eighth quarter was higher than its first quarter.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 US Olympic Trials Swimming drew 3,334,000 viewers on NBC, the 2024 US Olympic Trials Track & Field drew 3,891,000 viewers on NBC, the 2024 Copa America soccer game of Mexico vs. Jamaica drew 854,000 viewers on FS1 and 447,000 viewers on TUDN, the 2024 College Baseball World Series game of Texas A&M vs. Florida drew 2,186,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of Atlanta Braves vs. New York Yankees drew 2,206,000 viewers on FOX, and On Patrol Live drew 646,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 189,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 72.4% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 27.9% in overall viewership and down 30,5% in key demographic viewership.
