More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 12th
The June 12th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership and a large decline in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 681,000 viewers and a 0.23 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s declines this week was due to the stiff sports competition that night from the 2024 NBA Finals and United States soccer game and the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 37% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s lead-in programming Big Bang Theory drew 938,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demo rating on TBS. Meltzer reported that AEW’s overrun had the rare occurrence of losing instead of gaining viewers
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NBA Finals Game 3 of Boston Celtics vs. Dallas Mavericks drew 10,973,000 viewers on ABC and 453,000 viewers on ESPN, the soccer game of United States vs. Brazil drew 682,000 viewers on TNT and 166,000 viewers on TruTV, Sistas Series drew 746,000 viewers on BET, and Top Chef drew 687,000 viewers on BRAVO.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 297,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 61.3% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 785,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 618,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.
In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that WWE’s NXT show on Tuesday managed to top AEW in overall viewership but lost in key demographic ratings by a 0.01 point. NXT’s show was notable for not facing any competition from the 2024 NBA Finals and NHL Stanley Cup and for also featuring an advertised appearance from Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 18.1% in overall viewership and down 24.2% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 27% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that the reason for the large declines was due to last year’s show did not face off against any NBA or NHL Playoffs competition.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for June 7th
The June 7th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in key demographic rankings and a slight increase in overall viewership. That week’s show was notable for Rampage returning to its normal Friday late night time slot following the prior week’s show being preempted to an earlier start time of 6:30PM EST due to TNT’s 2024 NHL Playoffs commitments on the network that night.
AEW drew 256,000 viewers and a 0.09 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 14th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the weaker than usual sports competition that night and the slight gain from their Over 50 viewership group, which was up 3,000 viewers compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the slight decline from their overall key demographic viewership, which was down 2,000 viewers compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s AEW show viewership was the lowest ever for a Rampage show in its normal timeslot in Rampage series history.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 College Track & Field Championships drew 375,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of San Francisco Giants vs. Texas Rangers drew 184,000 viewers on MLB Network, On Patrol Live drew 846,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and Zillow Gone Wild drew 639,000 viewers on Home and Garden Network.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 119,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 55.6% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 12% in overall viewership and down 4.8% in key demographic viewership.

AEW drew 388,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 5th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the weaker than usual television competition that night and the large increase from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 16.6% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the declines from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 of Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers drew 3,115,000 viewers on ABC, UFC Fight Night drew 644,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2024 College Baseball Playoffs game of North Carolina vs. West Virginia drew 621,000 viewers on ESPN2, the 2024 College Track & Fields Finals drew 519,000 viewers on ESPN, and On Patrol Live drew 763,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.
