More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 5th

The June 5th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a small increase in key demographic ratings and a slight increase in overall viewership.

AEW drew 790,000 viewers and a 0.28 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to a combination of the lack of stiff competition from the 2024 NBA and NHL Playoffs and the large increase from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 23.2% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s younger key demographic viewership was its highest since the April 10th show. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s lead-in program Big Bang Theory drew 948,000 viewers and a 0.15 rating on TBS.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the MLB game of San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Angels drew 174,000 viewers on FS1, the MLB game of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates drew 284,000 viewers on MLB Network, the 2024 College Softball World Series Game 1 of Oklahoma vs. Texas drew 1,911,000 viewers on ESPN, Sistas Series drew 959,000 viewers on BET, My 600-LB Life drew 390,000 viewers on TLC, and Top Chef drew 510,000 viewers on BRAVO.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 363,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 69.1% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 976,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 714,000 viewers for their sixth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 12.9% in overall viewership and down 16.5% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 27% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for May 31st

The May 31st episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a slight increase in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for Rampage being preempted to an earlier start time of 6:30PM EST due to TNT’s 2024 NHL Playoffs commitments on the network that night.

AEW drew 255,000 viewers and a 0.09 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 25th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gain from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 14.9% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 College Baseball Playoffs game of Texas vs. Louisiana drew 230,000 viewers on ESPN2, the 2024 College Softball Playoffs game of Duke vs. Alabama drew 823,000 viewers on ESPN, SportsCenter drew 343,000 viewers on ESPN, and NASCAR Trucks Toyota 200 race drew 178,000 viewers on FS1.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 121,000 viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 28.6% in overall viewership and down 25% in key demographic viewership. The reason for the large declines was due to last year’s show aired on its usual Friday night timeslot.

The June 1st episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a small decline in key demographic rankings. That week’s show was notable for Collision being a taped and not live show and returning to its normal timeslot on TNT after being preempted the prior week on TBS due to TNT’s 2024 NHL Playoffs commitments on the network.

AEW drew 378,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 12th place.

In regards to notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NHL Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals Game 6 of New York Rangers vs. Florida Panthers drew 3,016,000 viewers on ABC, the UFC 302 Prelims drew 1,103,000 viewers on ESPN, the FOX Saturday Night Baseball drew 2,068,000 viewers on FOX, the 2024 College Softball World Series Playoffs game of Florida vs. Texas drew 1,029,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2024 College Baseball Playoffs game of Texas vs. Texas A&M drew 690,000 viewers on ESPN, and On Patrol Live drew 797,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 145,000 viewers.
