Mariah May Advances in 2024 Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament

Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 event at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York featured one First Round match for the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament.

This was Mariah May defeating Saraya.

As a result of her victory, May advances to the next round of this year’s Women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament. May will be facing off against Hikaru Shida in the Semifinal Round.

Bryan Danielson Advances in 2024 Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament

Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 event also featured one First Round match for this year’s Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament.

This was Bryan Danielson defeating Shingo Takagi.

As a result of his victory, Danielson advances to the next round of this year’s Men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament. Danielson will be facing off against PAC in the Semifinal Round.

Jack Perry Wins TNT Title at Forbidden Door 2024

Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 event also featured Jack Perry being crowned the new TNT Champion.

Perry won the title in a Ladder match for the vacant title that also featured Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe, Dante Martin, Lio Rush, and El Phantasmo as the competitors.

This was Perry’s first official singles championship victory of his AEW career and his second overall when counting the unofficial FTW Championship.

Mercedes Mone Wins NJPW Strong Women’s Title & Britt Baker Makes Surprise Return at Forbidden Door 2024

Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 event also featured Mercedes Mone defeating Stephanie Vaquer to become the new NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.

This match was a Winner Takes All match for both the AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s titles.

Following the match, Mone’s victory celebration was cut short by Britt Baker’s music playing and her making her surprise return from injury to AEW.

This was Baker’s first appearance in AEW since September of 2023 due to a back-related injury.

Tetsuya Naito Wins IWGP World Title at Forbidden Door 2024

Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 event also featured Tetsuya Naito defeating Jon Moxley to become the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

This was Naito’s fifth IWGP World title victory of his NJPW career, three with IWGP Heavyweight title and two with the IWGP World Heavyweight title.
