AEW Reportedly Resolved AAA & CMLL Issues for Forbidden Door 2024
AEW reportedly recently resolved the issues between Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre and Lucha Libre AAA for this month’s AEW and NJPW’s Forbidden Door 2024 event, according to the Wrestling Observer Radio.
Dave Meltzer reported that AEW CEO Tony Khan was able to resolve CMLL’s restriction preventing CMLL contracted talent from working on the same show as AAA contracted talent for this year’s Forbidden Door event. Meltzer reported that this means that RUSH, Rey Fenix, and other AAA contracted talent who had been prevented from working in past Forbidden Door events are now allowed to work at this year’s event.
Meltzer reported that Khan has been trying to be a good partner for CMLL and CMLL officials likely became less stubborn over their stance recently due to them wanting to get more exposure and work for their talent in the United States.
Meltzer also reported that CMLL officials have held recent talks regarding plans to potentially run events in the U.S. in the future. Meltzer speculated that CMLL likely would not run these potential events on their own at least for the initial events.
Meltzer also reported that RUSH vs. MJF is currently expected to be officially announced for the event while Mistico and other top CMLL talents will likely work at the event as well.
Charlette Renegade AEW Absence & Health Status Update
As noted before, Charlette Renegade has been out of action for AEW and Ring of Honor since this past December due to an undisclosed medical issue that was recently revealed to not be a concussion-based injury.
A recent episode of the Women’s Wrestling Talk podcast featured Renegade as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Renegade providing an update on her current absence from AEW and health situation.
“At the start of the year, I had a small incident occur that put me out for six months. We’re quickly approaching that six months now but what I’ve been doing during that six months is I’ve learned how to cut hair, I’ve become a barber as kind of a side job while I’m out. I’m here and I’m supporting Robyn (Renegade) and trying to help her as much behind the scenes as I can, trying to be there for her as much as I can for her but, we’re quickly approaching the end of our six months so hopefully you guys should start seeing (me) more back out there with her.
My grandfather has owned a barbershop in Tucker, Georgia for the last 52 years. So, he taught my mom how to cut hair 20 years ago and they’ve been working there forever. My mom took a short break. She went off and made her own business and has recently come back to cutting hair and when I was set off to the side with this break that I’m having to take, I started going up to the barbershop every day and just being a little bit of a help by sweeping and mopping and folding towels. Just doing what I could to make a little extra money and I looked at my grandad one day and he was like, ‘Why don’t you just get your license? Because you’re in here every day. It shouldn’t take you that long,’ and because I’m apprenticing under my grandfather and my mom, they’re allowing me the time to take off for wrestling when I need to take off for wrestling when I do come back and still allow me to get my license. But the entire point was to make the barbershop three generations deep so we have my grandfather, my mom and me.”
