Tony Khan Comments on Would Love to Have The Motor City Machine Guns Back in AEW

CBS Sports held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about the likelihood of The Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin, appearing in AEW this year.

“I can’t say that for sure. I thought they were excellent here in 2022, when they appeared at All Out. That worked out really well, they were tremendous and they added a lot to the card. I loved having them here. Originally, that spot was intended for The Briscoes. I was not able to use The Briscoes, I was not permitted to use The Briscoes in that situation. I think it would have been great, but Motor City Machine Guns came in and really helped us at that time, being a part of the show when there was a spot that was intended for another great tag team, in my opinion maybe the greatest tag team ever, The Briscoes. You needed somebody really strong, somebody very good to come in and help us, and that’s where the Motor City Machine Guns did come in about two years ago and were a big part of All Out ‘22, and would love to have them back here any time. I think they’re both great.”

Swerve Strickland Comments on His Current Presentation as AEW World Champion

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured Swerve Strickland as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Strickland’s thoughts about the online criticisms over his presentation since winning the AEW World Championship and if he would have preferred to do something else after winning the title.

“Of course, I would have preferred to do something different. That’s the element of being now and getting back the next show and the following week. You have to constantly grow. We grow and get other opportunities. For me, this championship reign is always going to keep ascending and going up. Next week is always going to be better than before and the next week will be better than the week before. It’s going to keep going up. I’d rather keep going up than going down.”

Strickland also gave his thoughts about his current presentation in AEW.

“There is literally a time ticker for when I’m about to pop up on screen. I’m popping up on the screen like three times a night and different promos. I’m giving live promo shots. ‘We have to shoot it now.’ Okay, boom. I’m having a presence on Collision, even when I’m not there. The last promo on Collision that ended the show, I shot that in my house the day before just because. ‘Whatever y’all need.’ I like to keep myself presentable at any time. I call myself the Boogeyman of pro wrestling for a reason. You say my name and I pop up. I like the factor of you never know when I’m going to pop up. When Samoa Joe faced Dustin Rhodes at the end of the show, I popped up again. I like that factor of you never know when I’m going to pop up, if I pop up at all. Keep watching because sometimes not being announced is a good thing too, to keep you wondering, ‘They said his name. Is that going to have implications in this segment with this character?’ Sometimes, I don’t like leading people on to what is about to happen. Sometimes it’s a good thing. Sometimes, just let people watch and leave them to their own imagination.”
