Jeff Cobb Makes Surprise Appearance & New Trios Match Set for Forbidden Door 2024
Saturday’s AEW Collision show also featured NJPW talent Jeff Cobb making a surprise appearance and being revealed as The Learning Tree’s partner for their Trios match against Samoa Joe, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024, which takes place on June 30th at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.
This new Trios match was initially setup in recent weeks over the bad blood issues between The Learning Tree and Joe, HOOK, & Shibata leading to Chris Jericho revealing on Friday’s Rampage show that he will be revealing his and Big Bill’s partner for their Trios match at Saturday’s Collision show.
During tonight’s Collision show, The Learning Tree’s Jericho was giving out advice throughout the show and walked up to a Zamboni. When Jericho tried to get into the Zamboni, Joe, HOOK, and Shibata were revealed to be inside and attacked the Learning Tree. This brawl spilled out from the backstage to the ring leading to Joe, HOOK, and Shibata quickly getting the upperhand. This led to Cobb running out and quickly laid out HOOK and Shibata and engaged in a meaty men fight with Joe that ended with Joe also being laid out. Cobb and The Learning Tree then raised up their arms and stood tall as Excalibur confirmed that Cobb was the mystery person Jericho teased about. This Trios match was then made official for Forbidden Door following a match graphic being shown.
