EVIL Issues Lumberjack Stip Challenge to Jon Moxley for IWGP World Title Match at NJPW Dominion 2024

New Japan Pro Wrestling held a recent interview with EVIL. One of the topics discussed included EVIL issuing a challenge to Jon Moxley for their IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match at next month’s Dominion 2024 event to be held as a Lumberjack match for the title.

“Since this low life mud show ‘wrestler’ wants to run away from any kind of a fair fight under IWGP rules then I have something for him. June 9 in Osaka Jo Hall, a Lumberjack Match for the title. That way he has no escape.

He can talk about gang warfare all he wants, but all he has in his gang of reprobates is that waste of space Umino, right. When he’s trapped in the ring with no way out around him, he’ll see his future is as bleak as that fake title he carries round. If he wants to bring his snot nosed brat with him he can, and we’ll make sure both understand what justice looks like. June 9 in Osaka Jo Hall, I’ll crush you in a Lumberjack Match. Don’t you forget it!”

I was at signing with him in New Jersey about three weeks ago and had a few minutes to talk to him. I was talking to him and Barbarian and Barb actually asked, you know, ‘How you doing, Barry?’ He said, ‘I’m doing better now. I had a rough go of it.’ That’s the first time we’ve had that discussion. Because I just kept everything positive when I’ve seen him in the past and hugged his neck and all that. But he just said, ‘I had a pretty rough go of it. I came off that plane and everything just kind of went upside down, man.’ He just fell out there in the airport itself. The guy that worked on him for 10 minutes, or whatever it was before they got somebody there, God bless you, whoever you are out there. We can’t thank you enough, you saved one of the one of the good guys in the business. He’s beloved and he has meant as much to the wrestling industry as anybody you can name and you saved him, and we’re appreciative more than you’ll ever know.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
