Konosuke Takeshita Advances to Vacant TNT Title Ladder Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024

Friday’s taped AEW Rampage show featured one qualifying match for the Vacant TNT Championship Ladder match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024, which takes place on June 30th at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.

This qualifying match was Konosuke Takeshita defeating Penta El Zero Miedo.

As a result of his victory, Takeshita became the first competitor to have officially qualified for the Vacant TNT Championship Ladder match at Forbidden Door 2024.

Chris Jericho Announces He is “Stepping Down” as AEW Rampage Commentator

Friday’s taped AEW Rampage show also featured The Learning Tree’s Chris Jericho announcing that he has stepped down from AEW’s Rampage commentary team.

During the show, The Learning Tree were backstage with Renee Paquette for an interview. After some greetings by Jericho to all of his Learning Tree fans, Paquette asked Jericho why he is not at the commentary table tonight to do his usual commentary work. Jericho responded talking about HOOK’s attack to him at last week’s show. Jericho stated that he has officially stepped down from his commentator role on Rampage so that he can focused on being a big part of Collision and Dynamite instead.


Saturday’s AEW Collision Airing Status Update

As noted before, this Saturday’s taped AEW Collision show in Palm Desert, California was scheduled to be preempted to a 12:00AM EST airing on Sunday, June 2nd due to TNT’s current commitments with the 2024 NBA Playoffs on their network that night.

Thursday’s 2024 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals Game 5 between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves resulted in the Mavericks winning the game and closing out their series.

During tonight’s taped show, AEW commentator Excalibur announced that Saturday’s Collision show will now be airing at its usual start time of 8PM EST on TNT. The reason is due to no more NBA Playoff games being scheduled to take place that night.

Besides the airing status announcement, the full card for Saturday’s Collision show was also announced.
