Janel Grant’s Lawyer Comments on Publishing of Love Letter to Vince McMahon was Meant to Victim Shame

As noted before, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit this past January against former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon accusing McMahon of committing sex trafficking and sexual abuse towards her during her time in the company. A “love letter” written by Grant to McMahon was recently made public which Grant’s lawyer Ann Callis claimed that Grant was coerced to write.

Post Wrestling and Wrestlenomics held a recent interview with Callis. One of the topics discussed included Callis claiming that the publishing of Grant’s “love letter” to McMahon was intended to intimate and victim shame Grant and push McMahon’s narrative of their relationship being consensual.

“It was a tactic to intimidate Janel and victim-shame her.

For Vince McMahon, it’s further proof of misconduct. Redoing and editing the letter — it wasn’t love, it was fear of repercussions. She [Grant] was, frankly, an emotional prisoner and was asked to [write a love letter] by Vince McMahon. This isn’t a new thing, like, ‘gotcha.’ It happens when people are sex trafficked.”

John Pollock and Brandon Thurston reported that Callis had informed them that the person named “Paul” in Grant’s letter is Paul Mangieri, who currently works as an executive assistant in WWE.

In regards to the person named “Mickey” in the lawyer, Pollock and Thurston reported that those familiar with the situation stated that this is Mickey Mangieri, who worked as an assistant to McMahon.

When asked for comments, McMahon’s lawyer Jessica Taub Rosenberg stated:

“Ms. Grant’s letter is multiple pages, includes details of their relationship and indicates she wrote 24 drafts. It makes no sense to coerce someone to write 24 drafts of a multiple-page love letter. Ms. Grant wrote this love letter to Mr. McMahon. Her attorney is now desperately trying to explain it away because it shows the relationship was consensual and the lawsuit’s allegations are a sham. The false explanation that it was ‘coerced’ is nonsense. Ms. Grant’s letter is just one piece of evidence demonstrating the relationship was consensual and her allegations in the lawsuit are false. There are more pieces of evidence like this to come that will prove her claims are meritless.”

In response to Rosenberg’s comments about Grant writing 24 drafts of her letter being something that would make no sense to coerce someone to write, Callis stated:

“For Vince McMahon, it’s further proof of misconduct.
