Steve Maclin Comments on His Decision to Sign New Contract to Stay in TNA
As noted before, Steve Maclin recently signed a new contract with TNA Wrestling to remain in the company for the foreseeable future.
Fightful held a recent interview with Maclin. One of the topics discussed included Maclin’s thoughts about his decision to sign a new contract with TNA.
“As of now, I am currently re-signed with TNA. That is the big news. As I said at Rebellion, we had been going back and forth for months with a list of demands. It’s been a long time coming. I was trying to work out, even when Scott D’Amore was there, about a year ago we were trying to work out new plans and trying to extend me with TNA. Now, with the rebrand, I felt like signing back with TNA and the creative freedom that I do have, and a lot of unfinished business that I do have in the company, especially a lot of opponents that I can work with or work against. I’m very much looking forward to the future with TNA.”
Maclin also gave his thoughts about who was the person he spoke to during contract negotiations following former TNA President Scott D’Amore’s firing from the company.
“Ariel [Shnerer] and Anthony [Cicione]. It pretty much ebbs and flows. They’re behind the scenes with creative and we have our talent relations with Tommy Dreamer and Gail Kim. Mostly, my conversations came down with Ariel. I think we’re both on the same page of where I want to get back to and what the future of TNA looks like, and that includes me. I’ve wanted to make this my home, and it is my home for the foreseeable future. I’m not telling you how long
Maclin also gave his thoughts about having talks with other promotions before making his decision to stay in TNA.
“My deal was up May 31st. Not like it’s contract tampering, but there had been discussions elsewhere. You put out your feelers, you have conversations, you want to know what fits best for you and seeing the landscape. I have a lot of unfinished business in TNA and there is a lot more work for me to do. I think my decision was made easily, especially going back a year, I was trying to re-sign then for longer.”

TNA News & Notes
Joe Hendy recently announced on TikTok that he will be releasing his entrance theme song “I Believe In Joe Henrdy” as a single on April 29th on music streaming platforms.
As noted before, this past Saturday’s TNA Rebellion 2024 event in Las Vegas, Nevada featured Sami Callihan making his surprise return to the comapany. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Callihan still remains as a free agent and has not signed an actual contract with TNA. Johnson reported that Callihan will be working for both TNA and Major League Wrestling going forward.
As noted before, this past Saturday’s TNA Rebellion 2024 event in Las Vegas also featured Mike Santana making his official return to the company. Following his return, Santana signed a new contract with TNA. In a recent interview with The Paltrocast with Darren Paltrowitz podcast, Santana gave his thoughts about when his deal for his TNA return came together. Santana stated “Maybe a few weeks. As soon as I made it public that I left AEW, that phone rang. I was in talks with everyone. My options were pretty much open. I knew that TNA was definitely a priority of mine and top of the list. The conversations went good and we got things together within a couple of weeks.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
As noted before, this past Saturday’s TNA Rebellion 2024 event in Las Vegas also featured “Broken” Matt Hardy making his official return to the company. In a recent interview with the Busted Open Radio podcast, Hardy gave his thoughts about his recent return to TNA. Hardy stated “I spoke with AEW, and I will start and preface this by saying that I love AEW. I love working with Tony Khan, he’s a great guy. My contract ended up expiring and we hadn’t reached a deal yet. We’re still in the midst of talking. I have literally, in the last week, I have talked to every promoter from every promotion that there is. [TNA Rebellion] was me showing that pro wrestling can still be unpredictable. This was done in a couple day’s notice. We kind of started talking about this on Wednesday and this is when it kind of materialized. There were a couple of days doing some shots for TNA and a little story arc. Pro wrestling is at its best when it’s unpredictable.” Hardy also gave his praise of TNA’s locker room and how they utilize talent. Hardy stated “This thing that I’m going to do with Moose and The System coming up over the next few weeks, I think it’s going to be a very interesting series. They also really lured me in when they offered doing Broken Matt Hardy again. They said, ‘We’d love to do that,’ and using House Hardy. My wife, she is in great shape right now, she’d be up for wrestling a match. King Maxel, Gotchic Baby, and I feel my wife couple utilize some TNA stuff, she’s a social media influencer, huge on TikTok right now. I think she can help boost the status and rep of TNA. Selling my family and talking about a Hardy Compound appearance, that’s what sold me on these dates.” Hardy also clarified his comments about TNA pitching the idea for him to return as his “Broken” character. Hardy stated “We talked about it and kind of came together on it. I feel like Broken Matt was the way to go because TNA is in my DNA when it comes to Broken Matt. That is the genesis of Broken Matt. They gave me that opportunity. They allowed me to think outside the box and really go crazy and do something special. They have a fanbase that is very accepting of off the normal course of pro wrestling. It’s very different from the die-hard base of AEW. They are more sports-centric and wrestling-based. TNA is very fun for me to do. I don’t have a lot of time left to do this, a couple more years, we’ll see. I feel good, I’m taking care of myself and had time off. I don’t want to squander the time I have left. I want to contribute as much as I can and I want to cement my legacy and hopefully myself and my brother’s legacy, is my goal. I want to land somewhere where I’m able to contribute as much as possible, that’s my goal. Where I can go, I want to go, and I want to make an impact in pro wrestling and I want to help the next generation and the younger guys too. That is definitely a goal of mine. Upon talking to TNA, Tommy Dreamer reached out to me and we started talking about things. We started talking about Broken Matt, I reached out to some of the writers, they were talking about ideas for the Hardy Compound, stuff to do with The System. It was really fulfilling for me. ‘This will be fun, especially during my off time.’ I’m not locked in anywhere. I’m not under contract. I am not the type of individual to sit at home waiting for the phone to ring. I’m going to go out and get it, that’s what I’m going to do. I go out and seize opportunities. That’s what makes Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
