Tony Khan Comments on His Recent Controversial Ant-WWE Comments at 2024 NFL Draft
As noted before, AEW CEO Tony Khan was involved in a recent controversy over his comments that WWE is the “Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling” during a recent interview with the NFL Network.
TMZ Sports held a recent interview with Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about the attention his neck brace drew during this past week’s 2024 NFL Draft.
“I’m glad that it was so much attention for AEW. It’s a really exciting time for the company. A lot of people have been introduced to AEW this week and I know that we had a great audience for our show on Saturday.”
Khan also gave his thoughts about the recent controversial comments he made about WWE being the “evil juggernaut” and the reactions it generated.
“We got tons of coverage for AEW, and I think it is important to say that I think AEW is the best wrestling company in the world in many ways. I think that we have the best wrestlers, the best matches, we’ve been putting on the best shows. I think the best pay-per-view events this year have been the two AEW events,” he said before recapping the matches and events at AEW Dynasty and AEW Revolution.
There are so many great things that have happened in AEW this year, and I’ll hold our track record up on anything, whether it’s the quality of the shows, the safety, the travel, the hotels. Everything we do, in and out of the ring, I think AEW is the very best.”

Max Caster Comments on Not Having Filter for His Raps in AEW & John Cena Reaching Out to Help His Rap Work
Isiah Kassidy recently posted a new video on his official YouTube channel featuring Max Caster as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Caster’s thoughts about having not filter for his rap promos in AEW.
“I think it’s important to do that. A lot of wrestling is based on, can I get people to like me? If you try too hard and you go out there and you say, ‘Please love me, please love me,’ it’s cool, it’s okay. We can try all the tricks, and here’s a pyro, or here’s some new gear, a flashy look, new song. But I feel like the best artists are the ones who will say something and stand by it. So I’m talking Kanye, Dave Chapelle, these are the guys that are the top of their game. So I take a lot of inspiration from that. What I do, a lot of it is kind of stand-up comedy, and a comedian can go up there, tell a joke, might offend some people, but a lot of people think it’s funny. So as long as it’s funny, I’m good with it.”
Caster also gave his thoughts about John Cena reaching out to him about his rap promos work in AEW. Caster also stated that Matt Cardona was the person who gave his phone number to Cena.
“Yeah, yeah. He texted me out of nowhere one time, and I had ask around, like, ‘Is this actually him?’ Because I thought it was someone playing a joke on me. But I think it was after I did this rap on Sonny Kiss, and I did, ‘Booty butt, booty butt.’ That clip kind of went around, and the next week, he starts texting me, ‘You’re doing a great job, awesome.’ He’s just very complimentary. He’s hit me up a few times since, but it’s so strange having a line of communication to him. He goes, ‘If you ever need to ask me anything, let me know.’ I’m straight-up just afraid to text him. I very much appreciate him for offering that, but man, it’s a lot of pressure because you want to come with a good question.”
Caster also gave his thoughts about how him getting suspended by AEW in 2021 over controversial issues caused by one of his rap promos helped The Acclaimed and his career.
“Sitting at home for three or four weeks, it just makes you angry, honestly. Whether or not what I said was right or wrong, still angry. I want to be at work. I want to be wrestling. We had just gotten out of Daily’s Place, and we had just gotten on the road, so we’re hitting these cities, and it’s cool, going out a little bit. Then it’s like, ‘Yeah, you did this thing, you gotta stay home.’ I understand, I understand why. I understand what I said that caused that, but yeah, you’re just angry sitting at home, honestly.
I don’t know if I regret it. That kind of helped my career, more than anything, believe it or not. Again, right or wrong, helped The Acclaimed and it helped me a lot, and it gave me a reputation, and one that I like to live up [laughs].”
