Jim Ross Making Return AEW Commentary Appearance at AEW Dynasty

Jim Ross has been noticeably absent from AEW’s commentary team since this past March’s Revolution 2024 event.

In a recent episode of the Grillin JR podcast, co-host Ross revealed that he will be making an AEW commentary return appearance at AEW’s Dynasty event this Sunday in St. Louis, Missouri.

“I’m awfully excited about the big AEW pay-per-view this Sunday [in] St. Louis. I’ll be flying out there on Saturday. Excited about whatever my role will be. I’ll be happy with it. I feel like [Mariano] Rivera. I feel like I’m always in the bullpen. But I’ll come in, I’ll shut your ass down [in] the bottom of the ninth or get some outs, whatever. Nonetheless, I’m not sure what I’m gonna do. It doesn’t matter, it’s a wrestling match. So I always say that if you put the son of a bitch on the monitor, I can call it. I can describe what we’re seeing collectively. So it’s a pretty cool deal. I’m looking forward to going out there and participating with the team. It’s hard to believe I haven’t been working since Greensboro on-air, so fun deal. It’ll be good, a good show.”

AEW Revolution 2024 Reportedly Generated Around 180,000 PPV Buys

AEW reportedly generated around 180,000 pay-per-view buys for this past March’s Revolution 2024 event, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the final PPV numbers for AEW’s Revolution 2024 event on traditional cable PPV was 34.2% higher than this past December’s Worlds End event. Meltzer reported that Revolution 2024’s streaming buys was over 25% higher than Worlds End as well.

Meltzer also reported that Revolution 2024 also ended up having a significant amount of late buys that likely came from older viewers who may not have first heard about the show and later found out that it featured Sting’s final match of his career. Another reason reportedly was likely due to the word of mouth Revolution 2024’s event received that helped generate a higher than usual late buys surge.

Meltzer reported that when factoring in these new numbers, Revolution 2024’s final PPV buys number would be around 180,000 and would make it the third highest PPV buys for an AEW event in AEW history. This reportedly would only be behind All Out 2021 and AEW All In 2023, which both generated over 200,000 PPV buys.
