The Rock on His Recent Heel Turn in WWE Being The Best for His Return
A recent episode the Jimmy Kimmel Live with Jimmy Kimmel show featured Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Johnson’s thoughts about his recent heel turn in WWE as part of his return to the company.
“It’s the best to go back to WWE in this ‘Rock 10.0’ version where I can become a heel and say the things that people want to say. I went in, ‘It’s the number one city, you cactus-loving crackheads.’ I also said, ‘every woman in here wants to go one-on-one with The Rock,’ and all the women go crazy. ‘Now settle down you crackhead Karens,’ and they all cheered again.”

What I’m most excited about is the lead up, the promos. I love talking. I’m trying to talk. You thought you had emotion in the Bloodline storyline with me and Roman, and me and Sami, watch me and my twin go at it. Ya’ll are going to be like, ‘They are 100% real.’ That’s what is going to make it fire. It’s going to be real. I’m excited to pump that out to the fans and give them that. It’ll be different from every other angle.”

WWE News & Notes
This past Sunday’s 2024 Academy Awards featured John Cena and The Rock among the Oscars presenters. In regards to Cena, Cena was invoked in a skit featuring him and show host Jimmy Kimmel celebrating the 50th anniversary of a streaker incident. This led to Kimmel egging on Cena to run out naked for the gag and Cena telling Kimmel that he had second thoughts. After some back-and-forth banter, Cena came out appearing completely naked with the award envelope for Best Costume obscuring his groin area. In regards to if Cena was actually completely naked for the skit, Variety reported that this was not the case and instead Cena was wearing a modesty patch covering his groin that was concealed by the envelope he was carrying.
Deadline reported that filming for the second season of DC Comics’ Peacemaker television series featuring John Cena will begin this summer.
WWE recently announced that CM Punk will be making an appearance at their March 25th RAW show at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
WWE also recently announced that tickets for their upcoming SmackDown show on July 5th, Money in the Bank 2024 event on July 6th, and NXT Heatwave 2024 show on July 7th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada will officially go on sale starting on Friday, March 15th.
In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, John Cena gave his thoughts about him not considering himself to be the greatest of all-time in professional wrestling. Cena stated “I’m saying that what we do is objective. I can’t fault anyone’s opinion. If you’re asking for mine, not a chance.” Cena also stated that he feels that Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Roman Reigns are all deserving of that label instead. Cena stated “I would say people who elevate the business to new heights from a performance standpoint. This is just my perspective, and we’re talking objectivity. It’s only opinion, there is no truth to what I’m saying. Hulk Hogan would have to be in there. Steve Austin, Dwayne Johnson, and Roman Reigns. When the company went public, I think they started trade at 32. My tenure kind of helped everybody put the pieces back together again, and Roman has done a fantastic job of taking the business to heights it’s never been to before.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In response to a recent fan on Twitter, WWE NXT talent Dijak stated that professional wrestling is a variety show and he loves every variety of it. Dijak also stated that everyone’s preferences should be respected and served and not to let others tell them that something they liked was stupid because of their narrow views on wrestling. This fan stated “What the Dijak (@DijakWWE) vs Joe Gacy (@JoeGacy) Asylum match has proven again is that I love my pro-wrestling the best when it’s done with seriousness but not taking itself too seriously.” Dijak responded stating “Pro wrestling is a variety show and I love every variety. Everyone’s preferences should be respected and served. I love having serious matches, funny matches, weapons matches, all matches. Don’t let other people tell you something you liked was stupid. I’m glad you enjoyed it!“
In a recent interview with Xfinity Hangouts, Bayley stated that she has had recent talks with WWE over the idea of rock band Paramore performing a live musical entrance for her match against IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship at next month’s WrestleMania 40 event. Bayley stated “Honestly, yeah, because I am going to fight for it. I’ve already brought it up. I just don’t know what their schedule is like these days. It feels like they’re taking time off, but they just put out a new video, so maybe not. I would love for them to play ‘Simmer.’ During the pandemic, Hayley’s solo album came out, and I was listening to that all the time. ‘Simmer’ would pump me up. Let’s do some ‘Simmer’ into my theme. I don’t know, I don’t care, you can play anything you want, I’ll come out to it. I’m really trying. Keep petitioning and tweeting about it.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
