As noted before, Jack Perry has been suspended from AEW since this past August due to his involvement in a backstage incident with CM Punk at AEW’s All In event. During his on-going suspension, Perry has been working for New Japan Pro Wrestling since this past January.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the reason why Perry’s current suspension from AEW has been very long is due to AEW CEO Tony Khan not responding back to earlier texts and messages from Perry.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that Perry had been sent how following AEW’s event at Wembley Stadium and Khan pretty much put Perry on ice afterwards. Perry reportedly apologized over his actions and kept texting Khan about how he never meant to cause any trouble and was sorry for the situation he caused. Perry reportedly eventually received a response tom the company through their lawyers who then contacted Khan. This reportedly led to Khan and Perry having a talk with each other and Perry apologizing to Khan.
Meltzer reported that Perry’s current work for NJPW is part of AEW’s plans for his eventual return to the company.
In an earlier report this week, Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that Khan was very mad at Perry for costing him CM Punk and was being blamed over it. Meltzer speculated that this was the reason why his suspension is currently at seven months instead of something around two months. This report was not included in Meltzer’s overall report about Perry in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter nor was anything about Khan being upset at Perry was included.
