AEW reportedly is currently estimated to have generated around 171,000 to 175,000 pay-per-view buys for this past Sunday’s Revolution 2024 event in Greensboro, North Carolina, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that the early cable television PPV buys numbers were up 26.2% compared to this past December’s World’s End event based on the same number of says after the show.
Revolution 2024’s streaming buys reportedly were up 25% in the United States and Canada and close to even for elsewhere international compared to World’s End. Meltzer reported that despite international buys being closer to World’s End, AEW had raised the price for Revolution 2024 by around 25% meaning that it generated more international streaming revenues than World’s End did.
Meltzer reported that Revolution 2024’s current estimates would put it as the fourth largest ever PPV buys in AEW history although it’s final placement would be entirely dependent on the amount of late buys for the event. Meltzer speculated that Revolution 2024 has the chance to match or even surpass Revolution 2022, which drew 175,000 buys, for third largest in AEW history.
Meltzer also reported that one factor helping out the PPV buys for Revolution 2024 was AEW did not air this event in movie theaters unlike with past AEW events. Another factor reportedly was the number of bars and outside establishments that aired the event was also way down compared to past AEW events.
