Men’s Elimination Chamber Match Announced for Seth Rollins’ Opponent at WrestleMania 40

Friday’s SmackDown show featured the official announcement of a Men’s Elimination Chamber match announced for WWE Elimination Chamber 2024, which takes place on February 24th at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.

Following WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s show opening speech about how he is in charge of the decision making for WrestleMania 40 while throwing veiled insults at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and confirming that the main event will be Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stated that he had talks with RAW General Manager Adam Pearce to determine Seth Rollins’ official challenger for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. Aldis stated that this will be determined with a Men’s Elimination Chamber match at this month’s Elimination Chamber 2024 event.

Pearce then took over and stated that they will be holding qualifiers to determine the six official competitors for this match. Pearce stated that the 12 competitors for the qualifiers are Randy Orton, Bronson Reed, Kevin Owens, Logan Paul, AJ Styles, The Miz, Bobby Lashley, Ivar, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Dominik Mysterio and LA Knight. Pearce also stated that qualifiers will be starting with tonight’s show and the first match will be McIntyre vs. Styles.

Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, & Bianca Belair Qualify for Men’s & Women’s Elimination Chamber Matches

Friday’s show also featured two Men’s Elimination Chamber qualifiers and one Women’s Elimination Chamber qualifier matches.

In regards to the Men’s Elimination Chamber qualifier matches, the first Men’s qualifier match was Drew McIntyre defeating AJ Styles with some distraction help by LA Knight. This distraction was caused following an incident between Knight and Styles at the commentary table earlier in the match and McIntyre shoving Styles into Knight causing Knight to be upset with Styles and distracting the referee while Styles was trying to pin McIntyre.

The second Men’s qualifier match was Randy Orton defeating Sami Zayn in a hard fought back-and-forth match.

In regards to the Women’s Elimination Chamber qualifier match, this Women’s qualifier match was Bianca Belair defeating Michin after a hard fought back-and-forth match.

Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne vs. Judgement Day Set for WWE Tag Titles at Elimination Chamber 2024

Friday’s show also featured Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne defeating DIY to earn title a shot against Judgement Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Elimination Chamber 2024.

The finish to this match involved Johnny Gargano hitting a suicide dive to Dunne on the outside that was followed by Tommaso Ciampa hitting a Project Ciampa to Bate in the ring for a near fall. Ciampa tagged in Gargano and DIY setup up a Meet In the Middle to Bate only for Dunne to grab Ciampa’s fingers and twisted them. After some more back-and-forth action, Bate hit a suicide dive to Ciampa on the outside and Dunn hit Gargano with the Bitter End for the pinfall victory to earn his team a shot at the WWE Tag Team titles at Elimination Chamber 2024.
