WWE held a double set of television tapings on Tuesday at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
The first taping was for Tuesday’s live episode of NXT while the second taping was held right afterwards and will be for the February 20th episode.
The reason for the double set of tapings is due to WWE staff and talent will be traveling to Australia next week ahead of their Elimination Chamber 2024 event in Perth. NXT staff will also be heading to Australia for a new set of tryouts in Australia next week as well.
In regards to notable moments from the second taping, Fightful Select reported that Shotzi suffered a knee injury during her match against Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Championship. Shotzi reportedly suffered the injury following a spot where Shotzi took a fall to the outside and hit her knee against the side of the ring during a planned spot for a commercial break. Shotzi reportedly was not able to continue the match resulting in the match being stopped and Shotzi receiving medial treatment and helped to the back. Fightful’s Corey Brennan reported that his sources stated that this was not a storyline injury and instead a legit injury and Shotzi was not able to put weight on her injured knee. Brennan also reported that NXT officials were stated to have been very concerned for Shotzi’s well being. It was reported that following Shotzi’s injury, NXT general Manager Ava came out and changed the match to an open challenge match for Valkyria’s title, which was answered by Lash Legend and won by Valkyria.
In regards to surprise appearances, SmackDown brand talents The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) made a surprise appearance during the taping. The Good Brothers attacked Nathan Frazer, Axiom, and Chase U’s Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, and Riley Osborne following a #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Tag Team Championship.
