As noted before, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made his surprise return to WWE at their RAW Day 1 show earlier this month in San Jose, California. During his promo on the show, Johnson called out Roman Reigns teasing a potential match between the two for Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This led to online rumors and speculation of this match taking place at WWE’s Elimination Chamber 2024 event next month due to a recent request by Western Australian government tourism officials for Johnson to make a potential appearance at their event in Perth.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources debunked the rumors of The Rock vs. Reigns match taking place at next month’s Elimination Chamber event. Meltzer reported that WWE officials currently do not have Reigns scheduled to work at their upcoming event nor has he even been advertised to make an appearance.
Meltzer speculated that WWE officials might end up having this match take place at this April’s WrestleMania 40 event and even possibly as a Triple Threat match with Cody Rhodes. Meltzer reported that WWE’s plans for Reigns’ match at WrestleMania 40 is currently something that would not be made clear until several weeks from now.
