More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for January 24th
The January 24th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and key demographic ratings and a slight decline in key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 837,000 viewers and a 0.27 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to the large drop in viewership during the show’s second hour compared to its first hour and the declines from their younger key demographic viewership, older male key demographic viewership, and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 13.4%, 18.2%, and 22.5% respectively compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to AEW’s overrun had the rare occurrence where it suffered a loss in viewers instead of the other way around. This reportedly offset the stronger than usual lead-in viewership from The Big Bang Theory, which drew 1,293,000 viewers that night.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Mavericks drew 1,675,000 viewers on ABC, the NBA game of Oklahoma City vs. San Antonio Spurs drew 604,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Auburn vs. Alabama drew 840,000 viewers, the College basketball game of Kansas State vs. Iowa State drew 360,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Illinois vs. Northwestern drew 335,000 viewers on Big 10 Network, the NHL game of Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes drew 314,000 viewers on TNT, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,172,000 viewers on BRAVO, Sistas Series drew 1,002,000 viewers on BET, and Challenge New Champion drew 482,000 viewers on MTV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 362,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 105,000 viewers (down 10.3%), Females 18-34 was 52,000 viewers (down 21.2%), Males 35-49 was 148,000 viewers (down 18.2%), and Females 35-49 was 55,000 viewers (down 22.5%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 253,000 male viewers and 107,000 female viewers for a split of 70.4% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, one of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,074,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 729,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 16.6% in overall viewership and down 15.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 3.9% compared to the same week last year.

The January 19th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a small decline in key demographic rankings and a slight decline in overall viewership.
AEW drew 390,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 26th place
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large decline from their Over 50 viewership group, which its percentage was not given, and younger male key demographic viewership group, which was down 44.1% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the gains AEW had from the other key demographic viewership groups, which were up 5.3% for younger female key demographic viewership, 2.6% for older male key demographic viewership, and 53.6% for older female key demographic viewership compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers drew 1,167,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Indiana vs. Wisconsin drew 465,000 viewers on FS1, the College basketball game of UNLV vs. Colorado State drew 149,000 viewers on FS1, Love After Lockup drew 433,000 viewers on WETV, House Hunters drew 970,000 viewers on Home and Garden TV, and On Patrol Live drew 943,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 161,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 19,000 viewers (down 44.1%), Females 18-34 had 20,000 viewers (up 5.3%), Males 35-49 had 79,000 viewers (up 2.6%), and Females 35-49 had 43,000 viewers (up 53.6%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 98,000 male viewer and 63,000 female viewers for a split of 60.9% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 15.9% in overall viewership and down 5.3% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 30.4% compared to the same week last year.

The January 20th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership, a small increase in key demographic rankings, and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 441,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 17th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership and older male key demographic viewership groups, which were up 35.7% and 14.8% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the very stiff sports competition from the 2024 NFL Playoffs game of Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers that drew the largest viewership for a sporting event on a Saturday night in the United States since 1994. This also reportedly offset the much lower than usual lead-in viewership for Collision, which was down 40% compared to the prior week.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 NFL Playoffs game of Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers drew 37,539,000 viewers on FOX, the UFC 297 Prelims drew 1,026,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2024 Australian Open drew 375,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of UCONN vs. Villanova drew 233,000 viewers on FS1, the Mexican Liga MX soccer game of America vs. Queretaro drew 776,000 viewers on TUDN, and On Patrol Live drew 709,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 162,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 32,000 viewers (up 33.3%), Females 18-34 had 25,000 viewers (up 38.9%), Males 35-49 had 62,000 viewers (up 14.8%), and Females 35-49 had 43,000 viewers (equal). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 94,000 male viewers and 68,000 female viewers for a split of 58% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s male skew was one of the lowest ever for an AEW show in AEW history with the reason very likely due to the amount of male viewers watching that night’s NFL Playoffs game.
