AEW: Marq Quen on Lengthy Injury Absence, Powerhouse Hobbs on Tony Khan’s Tweeting, Mike Mansury Contract Update

Marq Quen Comments on Missing Over a Year Due to Torn Pec Injury & Being Ready for In-Ring Return

As noted before, Marq Quen made his return from injury to AEW earlier this month.

Quen’s tag team partner Isiah Kassidy recently released a new video on his YouTube channel featuring Quen as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Quen’s thoughts about his lengthy absence from AEW due to a torn pectoral injury.

“I’ve been getting surgery, I’ve been staying at home, crying, miserable, depressed. It took a lot for me to get the surgery because… I was told that I can heal on my own. So when I was trying to heal on my own, they told me that I wouldn’t get the strength back that I had before. So then that’s when I was like, by that time, it was already February, March. Then I was like, why didn’t they say that from the beginning? I would have got the surgery back in December. So that’s why I got the surgery in April. Got this nice little scar right here, you see that?”

Quen also gave his thoughts about when he had suffered the injury during a tag team match against Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

“Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett whooped our asses. [Kassidy says he thought he popped his shoulder on a Silly String] Yes. But I like the ‘whooping our asses’ better …

I tore my pec, and I had to get a reconstructed pectoral tendon. Doctor words. I feel great. Ready, back in action. Am I ready to get back in the ring? Of course. Of course, I’m ready to get back in the ring. [Kassidy asked if he’s confident] So about that, am I confident? Yes. Am I ready? I don’t know. I don’t know who I’m facing, I don’t know what it is. So all the nerves and all that other stuff’s gonna come into play. Gonna get blown up just because of not knowing what I’m gonna do. If I don’t get blown up, that means I didn’t do enough.”

Powerhouse Hobbs Comments on His Tornado Tag Match at AEW Dynamite Homecoming & Tony Khan’s Tweets

Adrian Hernandez held a recent interview with Powerhouse Hobbs. One of the topics discussed included Hobbs’ thoughts about AEW CEO Tony Khan’s conduct with his tweets on social media.

“It’s his company, he believes in us and you know, if you believe in something, speak your mind (Hobbs’ reaction to Tony Khan’s tweets). If you’re 100 percent sure on it, speak your mind. If you’re 99 percent sure on it, don’t speak on it. But he’s 100 percent sure on it and he’s speaking his mind and he believes in his company, he believes in us so, that’s what we’re rolling with.”

Hobbs also gave his thoughts about getting to wrestle Sting at this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Homecoming 2024 show at Daily’s Place.

“This past Wednesday, I got to wrestle Sting. Sting… I have so many childhood memories of Sting but actually being in the ring with him, him trusting me and me trusting him and having hell a tornado tag match. You know, teaming with (Konosuke) Takeshita against Darby (Allin), Sting and then having Ric Flair in the mix. Main event on national TV. If you would have asked me 10, 15, 20 years ago, come on.”

AEW SVP & Co-Executive Producer Mike Mansury Contract Status Update & Rumor Killer on Potential WWE Return

As noted before, longtime WWE Executive Producer Kevin Dunn departed earlier this month from WWE following an almost 40 year tenure with the company. AEW Senior Vice President & Co-Executive President Mike Mansury was among the names being considered and speculated within WWE to replace Dunn prior to Lee Fitting’s hiring for that role.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Mansury is currently under a multi-year contract with AEW meaning that a potential return to WWE as Dunn’s replacement was not the case for him.
