Adam Copeland Comments on What Makes Christian Cage a Great Heel

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Adam Copeland. One of the topics discussed included Copeland’s thoughts about Cage’s commitment to his work as heel is what makes him a great heel in wrestling.

“He does this so well because he wants to be one,

Somewhere along the way, that’s got lost. Heels became cooler than the babyface. That’s not how it should be. That’s not how he sees it, either. I mean, the man wears a cut-off turtleneck. There’s nothing cool about what he’s doing.

He’s fully committed to it. He’s a Bond villain and loving it. It’s fun to be involved with.”

Copeland also gave his thoughts about the goal for his Cope Open match series in AEW.

“The goal is to bring everyone up. I always enjoy seeing new characters and seeing lightbulbs go off. That’s what I’ve loved about coming in so far. What I’m doing, it’s involved so many different people. Now there can be even more with the Cope Open.”

Claudio Castagnoli Comments on the Continental Classic Tournament Being a Success for AEW

A recent episode of The Mark Hoke Show podcast featured Claudio Castagnoli as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Castagnoli’s thoughts about AEW’s Continental Classic tournament being a big success for the company.

“I mean yeah, of course, personally, I think I should have won it (AEW Continental Classic). But you know, certain things are out of your control and I think if I take a step back and look at it from a fan perspective and from a company perspective, I think it was very successful, because it was fun, it was something different and something you can see nowhere else and I think the fans were looking forward to it every week and it’s like, you kind of knew what matches are going to happen. You kind of had an idea, but then it’s like, it’s fun. It’s like a sport… There’s anticipation building and then you have the matches and the outcomes were different and it’s all top talent, as in it’s all guys who are really, really good. So of course, it can go either way. It’s not super predictable where… you could look at each roster and be like, okay, I know who’s gonna beat it. Top two guys and the bottom two guys in this block and that block. You could have picked either way, you know what I mean? Which is I think it’s very important for the fans and I think it helped AEW grow and just get a little very focused. It was, this is what it’s about and it’s the prize at the end of the tournament… From a fan perspective and from a company perspective, I think it was very successful and I hope it’s gonna happen again next year, so I can win the damn thing.”
