Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming 2023 show featured four group stage matches for AEW’s ongoing Continental Classic tournament, three for the Gold League and one for the Blue League.
The first match was a Blue League match and featured Andrade El Idolo defeating Brody King.
The finish to this match involved King charging at Andrade only for Andrade to hit a spinning back elbow strike to lay him out. Andrade went to the top rope but was stopped by King and after some back-and-forth fighting on the top rope, King attempted a superplex only for Anrade to counter and dropped down slamming King’s head onto the exposed turnbuckle post. Andrade got back into the ring and picked up King to hit a Hammerlock DDT for the pinfall victory to earn another 3 points and be on top of Blue League.

The second match was a Gold League match and featured RUSH defeating Jay Lethal.
The finish to this match involved Lethal attempting a Lethal Injection only for RUSH to catch Lethal and hooked in a grapevine sleeper hold for the submission victory to earn himself 3 points and keeping him in the race at the moment in the Gold League.

The third match was a Gold League match and featured Jay White defeating Mark Briscoe.
The finish to this match involved White hitting a Sleeper Suplex to Briscoe and followed it with an attempted Blade Runner only for Briscoe to counter with a T-Bone style Uranage. Briscoe went to the top rope and attempted a Froggy Bow only for White to put his knees up as a counter. White then hit a Blade Runner to Briscoe for the pinfall victory to earn himself another 3 points.
The fourth match was a Gold League match and featured Jon Moxley defeating Swerve Strickland.
The finish to this match involved Strickland hitting a Swerve Stomp to Moxley for the nearfall. Strickland then attempted to hit a JML Driver that was countered by Moxley who rolled up Strickland and held onto his tights while the referee was not looking for the pinfall victory and earning himself 3 points to stand alone at the top of Gold League.

AEW Tag Team Titles Match Announced for AEW Worlds End
Wednesday’s Dynamite Winter Is Coming 2023 show also featured one new match officially announced for the card of AEW Worlds End, which takes place on December 30th in Long Island, New York.
This new match announced was an AEW World Tag Team Championship match of Golden Jets (Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho) vs. Big Bill & Ricky Starks (c).
This match was setup following a promo segment between the Golden Jets, Big Bill, & Starks that quickly went off the rails. Following some back-and-forth banter, Omega challenged Big Bill and Starks for their AEW World Tag Team titles at AEW’s Worlds End event later this month. Following some more insults filled banter between the two groups, Starks accepted the Golden Jets title challenge. Omega then gave his typical farewell message to the crowd and Starks and Big Bill and said the same would be happening to their titles at Worlds End. Following the segment, AEW commentator Excalibur announced that this match was made official for the event.
