Serena Deeb Health & AEW Absence Update – Deeb Medically Cleared for In-Ring Return & Reason for Absence
As noted before, Serena Deeb has been absent from AEW since October of 2022. Prior to her absence, Deeb had been dealing with some backstage heat within AEW over issues related to her usage in the company.
Deeb provided an update earlier today on Instagram stating that she was recently medically cleared for an in-ring return. Deeb also revealed that the reason for her lengthy absence from wrestling was due to her suffering three unprovoked seizures since October of 2022.
“I just wanted to share with you today a little bit about what’s been going on with me. Since last October, I’ve had a series of three unprovoked seizures. This has been a really dramatic time period for me. It’s affected my career and it’s affected my life in a lot of ways. It’s been really scary for me.
I’ve seen a lot of different doctors, I’ve had every test imaginable and for the longest time nobody could tell me why this happened.
Being out of the ring has been very challenging for me. I love professional wrestling with everything in me and I miss performing, I miss wrestling.
I’ve kept this very private and then I started learning more about seizures and how much more common it is and I didn’t realize how many people experience seizures. I just have so much empathy. I know how scary it is and I just want to send the message that you are not alone and there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
I want to encourage you and a big reason why I wanted to talk to you today is because I do have some news, and it’s really good news, it’s great news.
I saw my neurologist recently and he told me that I recovered, I’m healthy, and I’m officially cleared to wrestle. That means I am ready to return. Hopefully, the next time you guys see me, I’ll be in the ring doing exactly what I do best. I can’t wait to wrestle, I can’t wait to show you exactly what the Professor, what Serena Deeb is made of. Thank you so much for your time, I appreciate and love every single one of you. Much love.”

Jon Moxley Comments on AEW’s Continental Classic Tournament and Differences with NJPW’s G1 Climax
Comicbook.com held a recent interview with Jon Moxley. One of the topics discussed included Moxley’s thoughts about AEW’s new Continental Classic tournament.
“We’re only a couple days into it. It hasn’t really formed an identity yet. I think it’ll be the thing where all the talents involved and the human stories that play out throughout this thing and the excitement of the matches and so forth. I think that’ll just kind of have to take on a life of its own. Right now, we’ve just created this monster, this animal, and set it free. We’re waiting to see what it does.
If it was going to be good and if it was going to become a thing that you’d want to become a part of in the future and be the thing that was a marquee event and something that wrestlers wanted to do in the future, we had to make it good. My only job is really to wrestle my ass off. That’s easy enough. I can handle that. That’s pretty much everybody’s job. I think just straight-up in-your-face, one-on-one wrestling with a clear result is something that we need to always do. I think that’s something we were founded on.”
Moxley also gave his thoughts about the differences between AEW’s tournament and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Climax tournament.
“It’s a completely different product, a completely different business plan, a completely different universe over there, comparing New Japan and American television. You’re not encumbered by commercial breaks. There’s more shows right in a row. You’re not at the mercy of a television schedule or anything. It is a little bit more of a challenge to do it on the television format as opposed to just once the G1 is going, it’s just going and you’re in.”
