Mark Briscoe Comments on Feeling Great After Knee Surgery Recovery
Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Mark Briscoe. One of the topics discussed included Briscoe’s thoughts on being out of action for several months this year due to a knee injury and this being a recurring issue he had been dealing with since 2018.
“This has been ongoing since 2018. Me and my brother were going over for the CMLL Grand Prix. We’d gone over the previous year, and this was the second year in a row we were going. Before we left, I remember a match against Jay Lethal, it may have been a six-man, and I tweaked it.
This June, I had the Concession Stand Match with Jarrett, and it was about the time they announced it was me vs. Claudio at the summer pay-per-view. I get home, had the sharp pain when I was changing the diaper, and then that started happening multiple times a day and my knee kept locking up.
I apologized to Tony Khan, but he wasn’t mad. Tony hooked me up with the Jaguars’ team doctor. I had arthroscopic knee surgery to clean it up, and that’s when they found a floating piece of cartilage that was causing the problem. Now I’m feeling great. I’m excited to get back in that ring. I’ve been waiting to scratch this itch ever since I went out with the knee. I’ve been waiting, and I don’t particularly handle all that free time too well.”
Sarah Stock Comments on Her Joining AEW was Delayed Almost a Year due to Visa Issues
As noted before, AEW hired former WWE backstage producer and coach Sarah Stock to similar positions in the company this past March.
A recent episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast featured Stock as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Stock revealing that she had been in talks with AEW in 2022 for a potential job in the company but her hiring was delayed by almost a year due to visa related issues at the time.
“I was in Mexico at the time. I had been out of the ring for seven years, I hadn’t wrestled. I had made the decision to get back in the ring for three matches in Mexico, that was it, just have this little comeback, but it wasn’t planned to be a full time return, just motivation to get me back in the ring. I’m not sure what sparked the interest, but it was shortly after I made that decision and went back to Mexico to prepare for those matches that AEW got in touch with me. It all moved very quickly and then very slowly. Quickly in terms of, I really wanted to work with the company and we came to an agreement on things. The unfortunate part is, being a Canadian citizen, things aren’t as easy as starting to work. Rolling the red tape, getting visas, it was about a year after that conversation that I actually stepped foot through the doors in Winnipeg.
Obstacles kept coming up in that process. Thankfully, the AEW legal team and the law firm they work with to get visas were excellent in staying positive and keeping me positive because at that point, I stopped my whole life. I was done in the ring, I did these little matches in Mexico, and I’m going to get ready to go to work in AEW. I thought in a couple of months I would be there and ready to go. Everything stopped. It was limbo and frustration because I didn’t know if the visa would ever come through. When It finally did, it was the biggest relief. I’m so glad it all worked out.”
