Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight & Logan Paul vs. Rey Mysterio Announced for WWE Crown Jewel 2023

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in San Antonio, Texas featured two new matches officially announced for WWE Crown Jewel 2023, which takes place on November 4th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The first new match announced is a Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match of LA Knight vs. Roman Reigns (c).

This match was initially announced earlier in the day by the LA Times and confirmed by both WWE prior to the show and Paul Heyman during his opening promo segment on tonight’s show.

The second new match announced was a United States Championship match of Logan Paul vs. Rey Mysterio.

This match was initially setup following Paul calling out Mysterio for a shot at his United States title at a boxing event this past weekend. During tonight’s show, Paul gave an in-ring promo ridiculing Mysterio and saying that he has already beaten Mysterio once and boasted that he will be able to do it again. Paul then officially challenged Mysterio for his belt at next month’s Crown Jewel 2023 event. Before Paul could continue, Mysterio came out to interrupt. Mysterio told Paul that he reminded him of his son Dominik and stated that he needed some humbling. Mysterio also promised to whip Paul’s ass and accepted his match challenge.

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Championship – LA Knight vs. Roman Reigns (c)
  • WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins (c)
  • WWE Women’s World Championship Fatal Five-way match – Shayna Baszler vs. Nia Jax vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Zoey Stark vs. Rhea Ripley (c)

Jey Uso Makes Surprise Appearance at Friday’s SmackDown Show

Friday’s SmackDown show in San Antonio, Texas also featured Jey Uso making a surprise appearance.

During an in-ring promo segment, John Cena stated that while Roman Reigns currently has his streak of over 1,000 days as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, he also has his own streak currently going on of over 2,000 days since his last televised single win in WWE. After Cena teased at the idea of retiring due to him not winning a singles match of 2018, he got fired up by the crowd’s reaction telling him not to and called out SmackDown’s locker room for a match saying that it would be a bad night to whoever came out.

This led to Solo Sikoa coming out and engaged in a brawl with Cena that quickly involved Jimmy Uso running out to help Sikoa. A mystery masked person showed up and yanked Uso out of the ring and revealed himself to be Jey Uso. Jey and Jimmy brawled on the outside while Cena gave an AA to Sikoa in the ring resulting in the Bloodline running away.

This was Jey Uso’s first appearance on WWE’s SmackDown brand since the August 11th SmackDown show.

Bianca Belair Makes Surprise Return at Friday’s SmackDown Show

Friday’s SmackDown show in San Antonio also featured Bianca Belair making her surprise return to WWE.

Following IYO SKY retaining her WWE Women’s Championship over Charlotte Flair in the main event, Damage CTRL started attacking Flair in the ring. This led to Belair making her surprise return and running out to save Flair. Belair and Damage CTRL engaged in a brawl that resulted in Damage CRTL running away and Belair and Flair standing tall in the ring to close out the show.

This was Belair’s first appearance in WWE since this past August.
