The October 18th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership, a large increase in key demographic ratings, and a slight increase in key demographic rankings. This week’s show was notable for Dynamite airing on its normal Wednesday night timeslot following last week’s show being preempted to a Tuesday night timeslot due to TBS’ commitments with the 2023 MLB Playoffs.
AEW drew 901,000 viewers and a 0.31 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases was due to the large gains from their older male key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 32.6% and 28.1% respectively compared to two week’s ago show. This reportedly offset the stiff sports competition that night and large decline from their younger male key demographic viewership group, which was down 12.2% compared to two week’s ago show.
