AEW: Jon Moxley on New System Needed to Spot Concussions During Matches, MJF, Worlds End Event Announced for This Dec.

Jon Moxley Comments on New System Needed to Better Spot Concussions & Protect Wrestlers During Matches

The Messenger held a recent interview with Jon Moxley. One of the topics discussed included Moxley’s thoughts about the concussion injury he suffered at AEW’s Dynamite Grand Slam 2023 show this past September.

“30 seconds in” and sent him to “f—in’ outer space for like 10 minutes.

I just kept getting progressively more lost and couldn’t figure out where the f— I was. Then I had this moment of clarity, ‘Oh, I’m f—ed up. I gotta get the f— out of here.'”

Moxley also stated that AEW and professional wrestling needs a new system to better spot concussions and protect wrestlers during matches.

“In pro wrestling, it’s a really touchy subject. Somebody’s gotta f—ing bring it up. Pro wrestling is such a strange thing. In football, if a guy goes down and he doesn’t go back to the huddle, you know he’s f—ed up. In pro wrestling, a lot of times it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s fake. Maybe a really experienced wrestler and a really experienced doctor, who are trained to see signs of that sh–, are watching it on a separate feed. Even if they have a doctor close to ringside, what if the guy f—ing spills outside the ring? He doesn’t see that. The doctor and wrestler are completely untethered to the creative portion of it. They have no idea nor any interest in what the story is, who wins, who loses or how long it’s supposed to go. If a guy f—ing spins around or something and the doctor goes, ‘Is he OK?’ The wrestler can tell him, That’s just a pro wrestling thing. Don’t worry.”

Moxley also gave his thoughts on a possible solution to the issue.

“As soon as the doctor sees a sign of somebody being concussed, he just hits the f—ing red button. Boom, this is over. No matter how much time is left. No matter if it’s on live TV. It’s just over, and you figure it out from there.”

MJF Comments on His Match with Kenny Omega at Saturday’s AEW Collision Show & Bidding War of 2024

Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Uncasville, Connecticut featured MJF defeating Kenny Omega to retain his AEW World Championship.

Following the show, MJF gave a speech to the live crowd praising Kenny Omega and others in AEW for their help for his career in AEW and his upcoming “bidding war of 2024” for his next contract.

“I am wrestling way more than I ever thought I fucking would. Let me tell you something. This shit is exhausting. I want to tell a very quick story and it’s about the man across the ring. For me, I was 19 years old at an independent wrestling promotion. It was literally the first wrestling promotion that I went to outside of my training school, Create-A-Pro Wrestling Academy. It was called Five Borough Wrestling. I had a match on the opening of the show and guys that I aspired to reach the heights of in this sport were guys like Bryan Danielson, guys like Samoa Joe, who’s kind of an asshole, and most certainly guys like Kenny fucking Omega.

Now that night that night you had no reason to stop and watch my match. I was a pisspot, but you watched my match. You pulled me to the side and you let me pick your brain that night and you might not remember that, but I sure as hell do. Without Kenny Omega, without The Bucks, without Cody Rhodes, and without Tony Khan, who might be a fucking mark, but he’s a visionary, All Elite Wrestling does not exist. Therefore, your World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman does not exist now. I’ll be honest. I still don’t know what I’m gonna do for the bidding war of 2024, but what I do know is that when I get the opportunity to wrestle ‘The Best Bout Machine’ Kenny Omega, it tends to sway my opinions a little bit. So now I am going to let Kenny Omega do what he does best. I am going to let him do a goodbye the only way he knows how.”
