AEW Trios Title Match Announced for Battle of the Belts VIII
Saturday’s Collision show also featured the first official match announced for AEW Battle of the Belts VIII, which takes place on October 21st at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.
This new match announced was an AEW World Trios Championship match of 2.0 (Angelo Parker & Matt Menard) & Daniel Garcia vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & Billy Gunn (c).
This match was setup following a backstage interview segment involving The Acclaimed and Gunn boasting about being AEW Trios Champions for the past 48 days and Caster starting to talk about MJF. This led to Gunn interrupting Caster and saying that they would help Caster out with his MJF obsession. Gunn then offered some simple advice asking him to compliment Renee Paquette. This led to Caster awkwardly asking Paquette if he can go on her podcast but only mentioning its name of oral sessions, which resulted in Paquette calling him an idiot and walking off and Gunn stating that Caster has no people talking skills. This led to 2.0, Garcia, and Jake Hager walking in and issued a challenge for the AEW Trios titles for next week, which was accepted by The Acclaimed & Gunn. Later in the show, it was announced that this match was made official and would be taking place at next week’s Battle of the Belts VIII event.
