As noted before, CMLL talent Mistico will be making his official debut for AEW at the October 20th AEW Rampage show in Rosenberg, Texas. Mistico’s appearance is notable due to AEW’s current working partnership with Lucha Libre AAA, who is a rival of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre.
CMLL issued an official statement on Twitter on Friday regarding Mistico’s upcoming appearance for AEW and stated that this was the start of a new era for both companies. CMLL also stated that they are currently excited for future opportunities to work together with AEW.
CMLL is happy to announce & confirm the participation of current CMLL World Middleweight Champion Mistico in a one-on-one match against Rocky Romero on AEW Rampage, hoping for this to be an exciting start of a new era between two of the biggest companies in Wrestling worldwide.
This collaboration between CMLL & AEW is focused on not just bringing a unique experience for the fans, but impulse the growth & promotion of wrestling around the world as both companies share a common vision in taking the sport to new horizons & are excited to explore future opportunities together.

In regards to AEW’s current working partnership with AAA, Lucha Blog reported that he currently does not believe that this will affect AEW and AAA’s current partnership beyond AEW not being allowed to book AAA and CMLL talent in the same matches and possibly on the same shows. It was reported that this likely will be a match by match basis with CMLL but he does not expect CMLL talent to be on AEW often enough to cause any real issues with CMLL officials.
Lucha Blog also reported that CMLL and AEW’s new working agreement likely increased the chances of Bryan Danielson getting his wish of a dream match against CMLL legend Blue Panther in a hair vs. mask match in the future.
