As noted before, WWE released around twenty two known talents from their main roster and NXT developmental system on Thursday. These releases were done in conjunction with WWE’s mass staff layoffs this past Friday as part of their post-sale to Endeavor and merger with UFC process.
Matt Riddle announced on Twitter this evening that he was also among those who were released by WWE bringing the current known tally to 23 talents who have been released since Thursday.
Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon 🤙 pic.twitter.com/fpuQkIJAFx

Prior to Ridle’s announcement, WrestleVotes had reported that their sources stated that WWE was planning to release at least one more talent this weekend, which they later confirmed was Riddle.

Riddle last wrestled for WWE at the September 4th episode of RAW and had been pulled from the following week’s show over an illness-related issue. Besides his illness-related issue, Riddle had also been involved in an incident earlier this month at the JFK Airport in New York City, New York involving Riddle acting disorderly after disembarking a plane and him claiming he was sexually harassed by a Port Authority office.
Prior to his release, Riddle had been with WWE since July of 2018.
