CM Punk Reportedly Got Into Backstage Incident with William Regal in AEW in 2022

As noted before, CM Punk’s contract with AEW was terminated with cause this past Saturday following AEW’s investigation into Punk’s backstage incident with Jack Perry at last week’s All In event at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Besides Perry and Tony Khan, Punk had also been involved in several other recent backstage-related incidents over not wanting certain people working at his Collision brand.

BodySlam.net’s Cassidy Haynes reported that his sources stated that Punk had been involved in another backstage incident during his time in AEW. This incident reportedly took place backstage at AEW’s Revolution 2022 event in March of 2022 and involved Punk and William Regal, who made his official AEW debut at the event.

Haynes reported that those spoken to stated that Punk and Regal were involved in an altercation over Punk refusing to shake Regal’s hand backstage and got up to his face to tell him that he did not like him, he did not trust him, and that he was nothing more than just a “stooge for Triple H.”

Haynes reported that this incident nor any lingering issues with Punk is believed to have had any role in Regal’s decision to leave AEW in December of 2022 and instead him wanting to return to WWE to help work with his son Charlie Dempsey in the company.

Haynes also speculated that Punk’s issues with Regal could potentially impact his chances for a possible return to WWE in the future.
