As noted before, CM Punk and Jack Perry were involved in a backstage physical altercation incident at this past Sunday’s AEW All In event at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Following the incident, AEW suspended both Punk and Perry over the incident.
PWTorch’s Wade Keller reported that his sources stated that CM Punk’s heated argument with AEW CEO Tony Khan backstage at All In had actually taken place prior to Punk’s backstage incident with Perry. Keller reported that following Perry’s comments on camera about real glass, Punk stormed into Khan’s office and angrily yelled at him over what happened and had threatened to quit before being talked out of it by others. Keller also reported that the current belief by some within AEW is that Punk and Khan’s working relationship might be getting to the point of being beyond repair following Punk’s latest backstage drama.
Keller also reported that Punk had already been in an upset mood even before Perry’s unscripted comments over his belief that he was being singled out over AEW not sending anyone to pick him up from the airport when he landed in the U.K. Keller reported that this was not the case and instead Punk did not know that nobody else on AEW’s roster who flew for the show was picked up at the airport either. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources provided additional details stating that AEW officials had provided time windows to their talent giving them the choice if they wanted to be specifically picked up at the airport or travel on their own or in groups.
In regards to Punk’s almost backstage incident with Miro, Sapp reported that his sources confirmed that this was less of a confrontation and instead more of just some joking chatter between the two. Sapp reported that when Miro went up to Punk after his incident with Perry, he had asked how he was doing which led to Punk responding back in a joking matter of “I’m okay, unless you want to fight me too.” Miro reportedly responded back saying “okay” in a joking matter and the two continued to just joke around with their talk with each other.
In regards to AEW’s original plans for Punk at All Out 2023 prior to his suspension, Sapp reported that his sources stated that AEW officials had plans for Punk to defend his “Real” AEW World Championship against Ricky Starks at the event. This match reportedly had also been planned to be the main event match for All Out as well.
In regards to Punk’s backstage physical altercation incident with Perry, Fightful Select reported in a separate report that footage of this incident exists due to cameras had been all around Wembley Stadium that day for the event.
